1936 DEC 30 CC MIN20 z4 8 -- 1 Y E1 Segundo, California. December 30th, 1936. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7 :00 o.tclock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder, Councilmen Absent: None. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 23rd day of December, 1956, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by . Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS. The following communications, which were read to the Council, were disposed of in the manner indicated following the reference to each hereinafter: ARROW ROCK COMPANY, dated December 22nd, 1936, advising that without question there will be an increase in the price of sand, gravel and crushed rock, and submitting a proposal to furnish said materials to the City of El Segundo for a six months period at current prices. Ordered filed. THE CAMINOL COMPANY, LTD., dated December 28th, 1936, making application for a permit to erect a derrick with which to drill an oil well, in a portion of Section 18 of the City of E1 Segundo, more particularly described in said communication. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that Resolution No. 353, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING TO THE CAMINOL COMPANY, LTD. A PERMIT FOR THAT CERTAIN OIL WELL IN SAID CITY DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS "THE CAMINOL COMPANY, LTD. EL SEGUNDO NO. 192 which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS. None. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Councilman Hesser of the Public Works Committee, reported having had inspections made of the City Hall steam heating system boiler located in the basement of the City Hall; that these inspections were made by reputable steam heating concerns and that each of the engineers who made such inspections stated that the boiler is safe, but each recommended that the same be cleaned and that certain repairs and refinements be made. Lohman Bros. of Los Angeles quoted $142.00 for doing the work and Oliver Keener of Los Angeles quoted $101.58. S. Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that El Segundo Recreational Council be and it is hereby granted permission to use the City Hall Auditorium on the evening of January 8th, 193F9 for the purpose of holding a public dance, no charge to be made for such use. Hesser, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that Resolution No. 354, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION N0. 313 OF THE SAID CITY, ENTITLED: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO AND FIXING THE RATES OF COMPENSATION TO BE PAID SUCH OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES, AND REPEALING RESOLUTION N0. 298 AND ALL RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN SO FAR AS THE SAME CONFLICT WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION NO. 313 ", PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ON THE 27TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, A. D. 1935, BY AMENDING SECTION 2-THEREOF. -IN CERTAIN PARTICULARS, which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that effective on and after the first day of January, 1937, the following persons be and they are hereby rgspectively appointed to the following respective positions or employment for the City of E1 Segundo, to receive the compensation provided for such respective employments in Resolution No. 313 of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, as amended to and including this date, to -wit: W. Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Love, that the Chief of Police be authorized and directed to purchase six police badges and cap badges at a total cost of not to exceed $50.00.
