August 6th, 1936.
.A special meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at the hour of 4 :15 o'clock P. M. on the
above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by the
City Clerk, the Mayor being absent; said meeting being held pursuant to
the foregoing written Consent and Waiver of Notice.
Councilman Gerow was unanimously chosen Mayor pro —tem and he
immediately assumed the duties of the Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser and Selby.
Councilmen Absent: Love and Mayor Binder.
By general consent the regular order of business was dispensed with.
The City Clerk then read to the Council the application of William
C. McDuffie, as Receiver of Richfield Oil Company of California, dated
August 6th, 1936, applying for a permit to erect and maintain a derrick
and appurtenant structures for the purpose of drilling for oil and gas
in a portion of Section 18, T 3 S, R 14 P;, S. Be B.& M., as more
particularly described in said letter of application.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that
Resolution No. 341 entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING TO WILLIAM C.
McDUFFIE, AS RECEIVER OF RICHFIELD OIL COMPANY OF.'
CALIFORNIA, A PERMIT FOR THAT CERTAIN OIL WELL IN SAID
DITY- DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS "RICHFIELD EL SEGUNDO
NO. 1",
which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser and Selby.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Mayor Binder and Councilman Love.
The Clerk then -read.the application of V. Leslie McCarthy for a permit
to establish and operate a public automobile parking place at the Southwest
corner of Imperial Highway and Sepulveda Boulevard, September 4th to 7th,
inclusive, 1936.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that V. Leslie
McCarthy be and he is hereby granted permission to establish and operate a
public automobile parking place on the Easterly 375 feet (more or less) of
Lot 1, C. C. Hunt's Subdivision, and the Easterly 50 feet (more or less) of
Lot 1, Block 107, all within the City of E1 Segundo, September 4th to 7th,
Inclusive, 1936, provided, however, that before said permit shall issue,
applicant shall comply with all provisions of Ordinance No. 150 of the City
of El Segundo respecting the, filing' of a surety bond,' which., before filing
with the City Clerk, shall first be approved as to fors by the City Attorney
of the City of El Segundo. Carried by the following votei
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser and Selby.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Mayor Binder and Councilman Love.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Councilman Selby,_seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the meeting
adjourn. Carried.
