1935 SEP 25 CC MINM -273 El Segundo, California. September 25th, 1935. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City..-by Peter E; Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Gerow. RENDING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS PdFETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 18th day of September, 1935, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: VAME B. BEATTY, Chief Clerk, Board of Supervisors, dated September 20th, 1935, with which was enclosed copy of resolution adopted by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County on September 18th, 1935, authorizing an appropriation toward the improvement of Imperial Highway, between Sepulveda Boulevard and Inglewood— Redondo Road, within the City of El Segundo. Ordered filed. LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES, dated September 16th, 1935, being a special bulletin on five per cent limitation on expenditures. Ordered filed. LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES, dated September 17th, 1935, being a special bulletin on utility valuations. Ordered filed. DAVIDSON BRICK CO., dated September 19th, 1935, requesting the privilege of placing before members of the Council certain facts regarding said Company's Steeltyd Masonry Unit for use in connection with the construction of the proposed public library building. By general consent the Clerk was directed to write said Company, suggesting it contact Arthitects Austin and Ashley. THE VESTRY OF ST. CROSS CHURCH, dated September 19th, 1935, inviting members of the Council to attend a public reception to be given at the Parish House of St. Cross Church in Hermosa Beach on Friday, October 4th, 1935, in honor of Reverend and Mrs. Francis P. Foote. It appearing that no member of the Council would be able to attend the reception, the communication was ordered filed. None. None. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDWj COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF' OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES. Councilman Selby, reporting relative to a meeting he had attended at E1 Segundo High School, September 19th, 1935, in connection with the proposed organization of a recreational center for the City of E1 Segundo, advised that 20 organizations were represented at said meeting; that those present had selected a committee for the purpose of preparing by —laws and a constitution, which committee is to be known as El Segundo Recreational Council; that one member of the E1 Segundo School Board, the Superintendent of E1 Segundo Schools, the Chief of Police and a member of the City Council were requested to act as ex— officio members 274 -M of said committee; that the next meeting would be held on Thursday, September 26th. By general consent Councilman Selby was delegated to represent the City Council at said meeting. None. IINFINISHED BUSINESS. None. PAYING BILLS. NEW BUSINESS. Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the purchase of 50 ft. of 12" double — jacketed hose and 50 ft. of 2j" double— jacketed, gum treated hose, for use by the Fire Department, at a total cost of not to exceed $75.00 be and the same is hereby authorized. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Gerow. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Love, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
