1935 OCT 23 CC MIN284 - M E1 Segundo, California. October 23rd, 1935. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Love. READING OF 'MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 16th day of October, 1935, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. None. None. None. WRITTEN COP82UNICATIONS. ORAL COW.TUNICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND.SPECIAL COMMITTEES. The City Engineer, reporting respecting a matter heretofore referred to him, stated that he estimates the cost of constructing a culvert in Lapham Street to dispose of storm waters which may accumulate there by reason of a change in the grade of adjacent property, to be $205.00, including labor. Councilmen Binder and Gerow stated that they had viewed the location, and felt that the proposed work is necessary, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilor an Hesser, that the Street Superintendent of the City of El Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and directed to purchase the necessary materials and to install corrugated iron storm drain in Lapham Street, between Imperial Highway and Douglas Avenue, at a total cost of not to exceed $205.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Love. The Chief of Police announced the revocation of the appointment of C. I. Hendrix as a special police officer of the City of E1 Segundo. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. The Superintendent of the Water Department reported that to install a fire hydrant on an existing water main at Walnut Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard, as requested by Mrs. Brock in a communication filed with this Council October 16th, 1935, would cost approximately $125.00, and that an extension of said water main along Sepulveda Boulevard would cost approximately 900 per lineal cr -. do M- 285 foot ri tfie grbu�d. "] -general conseiXllie City Ll.er&`iias. d reoted� to" discuss the matter further with the petitioner, whereupon action disposing of the matter was deferred until the next meeting of the Council. None. PAYING BILLS. NEW BUSINESS. The Street Superintendent advised having obtained prices on certain road equipment, the purchase of which is contemplated by the Council. After discussing the matter, the Street Superintendent was instructed to furnish the City Attorney with such information as will enable the latter officer to prepare a notice to bidders and Councilman Hesser was requested to make an investigation as to the types and efficiency of tractors used by other governmental units in the vicinity, with particular reference to the County Road Department unit at Compton. The Mayor initiated discussion with reference to the demolition of certain delapidated buildings within the City, which matter has heretofore had the consideration of the Council. It appearing that the names and addresses of the present owners have been difficult of ascertainment and the City Attorney having suggested one additional source from which such information might be obtained, further action was deferred until the next meeting of the Council to enable the City Clerk to make a further attempt to procure the desired data. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
