M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: None. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 16th day of November, 1935, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 20th day of November, 1935, were read without error or omission being noted and were approved as read upon motion of Councilman Selby, seconded.by Councilman Love, which carried. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS. The hour of 7:15 o'clock P. M. at this meeting having heretofore been. fixed as the time for considering the bids received November 20th, 1935P for furnishing the City of El Segundo one tractor, the Mayor announced said hour had now arrived, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that consideration of the bids received November 20th, 1935, for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo with one tractor be deferred until the.order of Unfinished Business at this meeting. harried. • WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS., The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: ASSOCIATION OF CITY PLANNERS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY, dated November 25th, 1935, announcing its meeting to be held at Pomona, Friday, December. 6th, 1935s at 6:30 o'clock P. M. Ordered filed. DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND POWER, City of Los Angeles, dated November 5th, 19350 submitting a petition of said Department for permission and the right to construct, operate and maintain a 33,000 volt power line in a Southerly and Westerly direction across private property from a point on Imperial Highway, approximately 2700 feet Westerly of Inglewood — Redondo Road, to a point on Sepulveda Boulevard, opposite Palm Avenue, thence Westerly along the North side of Palm Avenue to the East side of Center Street, thence Westerly on Center Street to Imperial Highway, thence Westerly on the South side of Imperial Highway to Main Street, thence across Main Street to the North side of Imperial Highway, where the line will continue in the City of Los Angeles to the Hyperion Sewage plant. Brief consideration was given to the matter, whereupon it was.moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman'Love,.that the request of the Department of Water slid Power of -*the pity'of Los Angeles for permission to construct, operate and maintain a power line within the City of El Segundo.be taken under advisement until the meeting of this Council to.be held December 4th, 1935. Carried. At this point, the hour being 7:45 o'clock P. M., the Mayor declared a recess of five minutes. At the hour of 7:50 o'clock P. M., the Council reconvened, all members being present and answering the roll call. III None. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES. The City Clerk advised the Council that subsequent to the first typing of the minutes of the proceedings of -the last regular meeting, he was dissatisfied with his dictation thereof in certain respects, and that he had caused Pages N -1 and N -2 of said minutes to be retyped and that he had removed said pages from his Minute Book; that for the purpose of future reference he will cause said pages so removed to be filed in the City Council subdivision of his File No. 48 for 1935 -36. The City Attorney reported having conferred with Mr. Crenshaw of the Railroad Commission respecting the claim of the City of El Segundo against Southern California Edison Company pending before said Commission and Mr. Crenshaw advised no definite decision had been reached as yet and this City would be advised promptly after the Legal Department of said Commission has rendered its opinion. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. !Roved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gefow, that the Council now proceed to consider the bids heretofore received for furnishing the City of El Segundo one tractor. Carried. The Council thereupon proceeded to consider such bids and received the report of Councilman Hesser respecting•inspection he and City Engineer Hutchins had made of the equipment bid upon and of consultations had with users of different types of tractor equipment, as well as the recommendation of these officers that in their opinions the caterpillar tractor is best suited to the needs of the City of E1 Segundo. The it was moved by Councilman'Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that Resolution No..326, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING TO SHEPHERD TRACTOR & EQUIPMENT CO. THE CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING SAID CITY WITH ONE NEW GASOLINE MOTOR TRACTOR, which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. PAYING BILLS. Moved by Mayor Binder, seconded by Councilman Love, that the Townsend Old Age Pension Club be given permission to use the Council Chamber of the City Hall without charge Monday evening, December 2nd, 1955. Carried. Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that the sum of $2000.00 be transferred from the General Fund of the City of El Segundo to the Library Fund of said City and the City Clerk and the City Treasurer of said City be and they are hereby authorized and directed to make appropriate entries in their respective books of record. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love,-Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: -Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. Discussion was had relative to the application of the City of El Segundo to the Board of Public Works'of the City of Los Angeles for permission to connect a sewer system in the easterly portion of the City of E1 Segundo to the sewer system of the City of Los Angeles recently constructed at Los Angeles Municipal Airport and it appearing that the City of E1 Segundo has received•.no written formal approval or disapproval of its application, the City Attorney and the City Engineer of the City of E1 Segundo were instructed to agairr discuss the matter with the several entities involved and if, in their discretion afterward it is desirable to do so, to have a further conference with the Board of Public Works of the City of Los Angeles. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the purchase of a disk harrow at a total cost of not to.exceed40.00 be and the same is hereby authorized and directed. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the purchase of a 5 -foot chisel cultivator with 1" x 4" standards, be and the same is hereby authorized and directed at a cost of not to exceed $218.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the purchase of a grader at a cost of not to- exceed $525.00 be and the same is hereby authorized and directed.
