1935 MAR 25 CC MINCONSENT AND WAIVER OF NOTICE FOR A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFOR- NIA TO BE HELD MARCH 25TH, 1935. KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: That we, the undersigned, being all of the members of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, do hereby give our written consent to the holding of a special meeting of the City Council of said City, at the Council Chamber in the City Hall thereof, No. 203 Richmond Street, in the City of El Segundo, California, on Monday, the 25th day of March, 1935, beginning at the hour of 4:30 o'clock P. M. of the said day, for the purpose of authorizing the employment of additional police officers, whose services may be necessary for the preservation of the public peace and safety of the City of E1 Segundo, and we hereby expressly waive any and all notice of the time and place of said meeting and do hereby consent and agree that the same may be so held at said time and at said place. A special meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at the hour of 4:30 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor; said meeting being held pursuant to the foregoing written Consent and Waiver of Notice. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Gerow. The Chief of Police advised that in his opinion, the preservation of the public peace and safety of the City of E1 Segundo requires that additional police officers be employed at this time. After giving his reasons therefor, and the Council concurring in this opinion, it was moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Love, that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that the Chief of Police of the City of El Segundo, California, be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to employ not to exceed twenty special police officers, to serve under the directioncf the Chief of Police, at such times as in his opinion their services may be necessary, and that said special police officers be compensated at the rate of $7.00 for each twelve —hour shift they may so serve the City of E1 Segundo; provided, however, that nothing herein contained shall be considered as limiting the powers otherwise vested in the Chief of Police of said City under the provisions of Section 880 of Act 5233 of Deering's General Laws of California, to appoint additional police officers with the concurrence of the Mayor when the same may be by said Chief of Police and Mayor deemed necessary for the preservation of the public order. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following votes Ayes: Councilmen Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Gerow. Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Love, that Resolution No. 314, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING POLICE OFFICERS OF SAID CITY TO BE F24PLOYED FOR PERIODS BEYOND THE PERIODS OF LIMITATION NOW PRESCRIBED BY REGULATIONS OF SAID CITY AND AUTHORIZING PAYMENT TO SUCH OFFICERS FOR OVERTIME SERVICES, which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Hesser•, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Gerow. The business for which this meeting was called, as indicated in the foregoing Consent and waiver of Notice for the holding of this special meeting, having been disposed of, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the meeting adjourn.
