A regular meeting of the pity Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California,
vacs called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council
Chamber of the Cit,� Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: Hesser.
RlEkrdl•JG OF (MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 5th day of June, 1935,
sere read. No errors or omissions anpearir_Q, it etas moved by Councilman
Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be approved as read.
Carried.
PRITTYN COW.4UNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
EL SEG M4rO WOiUN'S CLUB, dated June 12th, 1935, petitioning the Council
to adopt the fuchsia as the official city flower. Moved by Councilman
Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the Fuchsia be adopted as the
official flower of the City of E1 Segundo. Carried.
Councilman Hesser appeared at the meeting at this time, the hour being
7:08 o'clock P. M. and he immediately took his seat at the Council table.
LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES, its Legislative Bulletin No. 12,
recuesting the Council to urge upon the Senator and Assemblyman from this
District their support for Senate Bill No. 1119.
Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the City
Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and directed
to send telegrams to Senator Culbert L. Olson and to Assemblyman Ralph W.
Evans, urging that they support the passage of Senate Bill No. 1119 if and
when said Bill is amended to provide for the refunding to cities of 25% of
the net revenue derived by the State from the transfer of the personal
property taxes on automobiles to the State. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.
H. C. SrIILFY, District Health Officer, dated June lst, 1935, being a
report of the activities of his department in the City of E1 Segundo during
the month of April, 1935, as Health Officer of said City. Ordered filed.
JOHN L. McCLi:IN, Mayor of the City of Redondo Beach, dated June 6th,
1935, inviting the Mayor, Council and citizens of E1 Segundo to participate
in the Covered Wagon Days Celebration, to be held in the City of Redondo
Beech, June 27th to 30th, 1935. By general consent the City Clerk was
instructed to address an appropriate reply to said communication and to
forward the same to the Mayor of Redondo Beach.

REPORTS OF STAT•,DING COWITTEES.
REPORTS OF OFFICER; AND SPECIAL COW.UI TTFES.
The City Attorney reported that he had, as directed, drafted and forwarded
to the Board of Public borks of the City of Los Angeles, a communication

respecting the application of the City of E1 Segundo to connect a portion
of its sewer system with that of the City of Los Angeles now being con-
structed in Los Angeles Municipal Airport. He reported that acknowledgment
of receipt of his communication had been received from said Board of Public
Works, but that no direct reply thereto has been forthcoming.
The City Clerk reported that Kress House Moving Company had made
telephonic application for a permit to transport through the City of E1
Segundo, on pneumatic tire dollies, a one story frame dwelling house, which
said Company is moving from the City of Los Angeles to the City of Manhattan
Beach; that the request was made in this manner owing to the fact that the
applicant would not have time to file appropriate written application to
be acted upon at this meeting, and that it desired to move the structure
betv.-een this date and the date of the next meeting of the Council.
It was thereupon moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman
Hesser, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that Kress House Moving Company of Los Angeles be and
it is hereby granted permission to move a one story frame dwelling
house, on pneumatic tire dollies, over and along Sepulveda Boulevard
from Imperial Highway to Rosecrans Avenue, within the City of E1
Segundo, between the hours of 3:00 and 5 :00 A. M., on or about the
17th day of June, 1935; provided said House Moving Company first
files with the City Clerk of the Uity of El Segundo a written
application for such house moving permit, and makes the requisite
deposit therefor, all as provided in Ordinances Nos. 28 and 70 of
the City of E1 Segundo; and provided further, that the provisions
of said ordinances shall be fully complied with by said Kress
House - Moving Company, and that said permittee shall exercise due
care and diligence in protecting persons and property during the
course of such removal.
Carried.
PAYING BILLS.
The following demand, having had the approval of the Committee on
Finance and Records, was read:
E1 Segundo Cooperative Unit No. 259 - - - - - - - - - - $75.00
Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the
demand of E1 Segundo Cooperative Unit No. 259 in amount of $75.00 be allowed,
and that a warrant in said amount be ordered drawn on and paid out of the
General Fund of the City of E1 Segundo. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.

Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the
following resolution be adopted:
WHERLAS, L.A.C.R.A. has made application to this Council to
furnish rater to certain lands within the City of E1 Segundo,
upon which said L.A.C.R.A. proposes to conduct a garden project
for the employment of unemployed employables; and
T-HEREAS, this Council believes said project to be an essential
relief measure, meriting the cooperation of the City of E1 Segundo;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Superintendent of the
Rater Department of the City of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby
authorized and directed, until the further order of this Council,
to furnish water, without charge, to L.A.C.R.A. to irrigate not to
exceed twenty acres in such location or locations within the City

of E1 Segundo, as said L.A.C.R.A. may designate; it being
provided that all pipe and fittings necessary be furnished
by and the expenses of installing lines to carry such
water as may be used, from existing mains of the City of
E1 Segundo to the point of discharge upon L.A.C.R.A. garden
site, the cost of making service and all other connections,
and the furnishing of a meter or meters necessary to measure
the water consumed, be borne by said L. A.C.R.A.; and
provided further that this Council reserves the right to
discontinue the furnishing of water to any or all of such
L. A.C.R.A. projects which may come within the purview of
this permit atsuch time and for such cause as said Council's
discretion may dictate.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and u"ayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.
Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the
Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized and directed to
construct a bin at the municipal warehouse site of the City of E1 Segundo,
within which to deposit grass cuttings and other caste vegetation for
decomposition purposes, the cost thereof not to exceed $20.00. Carried
by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this session,
it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the
meeting adjourn until Monday, the 17th day of June, 1935, at the hour of
4 :15 o'clock P. M. Carried.
