A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. 4. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Love. ?tEADING OF WINUTES OF PREVIOUS :-- E`TING. The minutes of the re- -ular meeting held on the 16th day of January, 1935, were read. No errors or omissions aonearin-, it was moved by Councilman 'Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN C0181UNICATION: . The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: ATCHISON, TOPEKA & SANTA FE RAILWAY COMPriNY, dated January 14th, 1935, consenting to the granting of a license to P. Mahoney to operate a street stand in Lanham Street, within the Cite of El Segundo, provided Northrop Corporation likewise consents to the undertaking. Ordered filed. None. REPORTS OF STLNDING COAUVIITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COT.R IITTEES. The City Engineer advised the Council that during the prior week, he had made an investigation to determine if a Federal Housing Act survey of the City of El Segundo might be undertaken in connection with the Redondo Beach - Hermosa Beach - Manhattan Beach survey, and had learned that the project in the cities named is completed. However, Federal Housing Act officials suggested cooperative action with the Inglewood or Hawthorne projects, which are about to begin, and that contact with the Secretaries of the Chambers of Commerce of these cities indicated they would consent to a joint project. Discussing the matter at greater length, it was pointed out that as a result of these surveys in the beach cities first hereinabove mentioned, repairs and new construction aggregating $4502000.00 had been commenced following the survey, and it was felt a local survey would likewise be beneficial. To this end the City would be required to furnish the printed forms used by the S. E.R.A. workers employed to make the survey, and at the conclusion of the discussion, it was moved by Mayor Binder, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the following resolution be adopted: WTiEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, feels that the making of a survey in the City of El Segundo, with reference to the application and use by the citizens of said City, of the benefits to be obtained under the Federal Housing plan would be of great value to said City; AND NHEREAS, it appears that such a survey can be made provided the City is willing to furnish the necessary blanks and stationery for use in connection with the makin¢ of such survey; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Engineer of the City of El Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to advise the State Emergency Relief Administration 1301FAY officials in charge of such matters, that the City of El Segundo, California, will, on proper demand therefor from time to time, be willing to furnish such supplies and stationery as may be necessary in connection with the making of such survey in said City and the dissemination of information to the citizens of said City with reference to the operation and use of said plan in said City; provided, however, that the total of such expenditures shall not exceed the sum of $100.00 and that said demand shall be presented, auditied and allowed in the usual manner. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Resser, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilman Gerow. Absent: Councilman Love. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
