1935 FEB 06 CC MINµ`Z ' M -141 E1 Segundo, California. February 6th,. 1935. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City .of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Love and Selby. READING OF 1714INUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 30th day of January, 1935, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting, held on the 4th day of February, 1935, were read, without error or omission being noted and were approved as read, upon motion of Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Gerow, which carried. YrR.ITTEN C00AUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAILWAY COMPANY, by E. C. Johnson, Chief Engineer, dated February 5th, 1935, File WO- 33274, addressed to the attention of R. T. Hutchins, City Engineer, submitting in duplicate the agreement between said Company and the City of El Segundo, respecting the installation of an additional wig -wag on the Standard Oil Company's spur track, on Sepulveda Boulevard north of Rosecrans Avenue, also a flood -light at said location. Although the designation of the location of the proposed wig -wag and floodlight, was improperly set forth in the said agreement and accompanying sketch, the terms and conditions of said agreement were satisfactory; hence it was moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the City of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of El Segundo, that certain agreement between Pacific Electric Railway Company and the City of E1 Segundo for the erection and maintenance of a standard wig -wag signal and flood- light on the East side of bepulveda Boulevard, adjacent to the spur track of Standard Oil Company, Northerly of Rosecrans Avenue, within the City of E1 Segundo, and the City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to attest the same, and to transmit a copy of said agreement, when properly executed; to said Pacific Electric Railway Company, and Ito place one copy thereof in his file in his office; the foregoing authorization being subject, however, to the correction in said agreement of the description of the location of the proposed wig -wag signal and flood - light, to conform to the facts. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen Love and Selby. ORAL CONKUNICATIONS. Mr. W. J. Rice addressed the Council relative to employment by the City, and was advised that he will be sent for when his services may be reouired. 142 - REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Councilman Hesser of the Public Safety Committee, recommended consideration of measures to promote the safety of children in the public streets adjacebt to E1 Segundo Grammar School and after discussion, the City Clerk, by general consent, was instructed to obtain prices on vehicular traffic control signs. oil 00 REPORTS OF OFFICERS =LND SPECIAL COAR11ITTEES. The Chief of Police announced the appointment of Robert C. Grow as a ?olice Officer of the City of El Se -undo and requested the Council's approval of such annointment. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the annointment by the Chief of Police, of Robert C. Grow, as Police Officer of the City of El Segundo be and the same is hereby ratified and approved. Carried. The City Attorney reported further conference has been had with Attorney Connell respectinc, the demolition of certain biiildincs, the property of Elizabeth Faits Rahn in Block 109 of the City of El Segundo, as a result of which he recommends th -t nothing be done respectin the tearing dorn of these buildings until after Wednesday, February 13th, by which date he expects to have the full consent of all parties involved to the destruction of said buildings. Councilman Selby appeared at the meeting at this point, the hour being 7:45 otclock P. 74. and he immediately took his seat at the Council table. PAYING FILLS. The following demands, having had the approval of the Committee on Finance and Records, were read: General Fund Consolidated Rock Products Co. 953.17 Ditto Incorporated 3.08 Southern Calif. Hansen 570.00 George Ipswitch 3.00 Builders material Qo. 8.19 Gibson Motor Parts, Inc. 23.81 TOTAL $213.61 Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on and paid out of the General Fund covering, the same. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Love. NEPT BUSINESS. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the purchase of 100 yards of screened fertilizer, at a cost of $2.25 per yard, plus California State Sales Tax, if any, from E1 Segundo Cooperative Workers, be and the same is hereby authorized.
