1935 AUG 28 CC MINw El Segundo, California. August 28th, 1935. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of 31 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the 8ouncil Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter Be Binder, mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Love and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Selby. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MCETINGS. The minutes of the regular meeting held-on the 21st day of August, 1935, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. Tide minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 26th day of August, 1935, were read, without error, or omission appearing, and were approved as read, upon motion of Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow,-vhich carried. TYhs City Attorney reported having received a communication from the board of Public works of the City of Los Angeles, relative to the application of the City of El Segundo for a permit to connect a small portion of its newer system in the Northeasterly part of the City of El Segundo, with the outfall sewer system of the City of Los Angeles at Los Angeles municipal Airport; that the form of contract which may be submitted for execution by the City of E1 Segundo is in course of preparation and will be delivered to the City of E1 Segundo in the near future. C� AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 122 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF UM CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REGULATING THE DRILLING, WNTENANCE AND COWrR(1CTION OF OIL AND GAS WELLS '1113REIN; DECLARING OIL AND GAS WELLS WITHIN CERTAIN DISTRICTS WITHIN SAID CI'T'Y TO BE NUISANCES, AND LEAKING I'T UNLAWFUL O DRILL,, MAINTAIN OR OPEt3ATE OIL OR GAS WELLS WITHIN SUCH SPECIFIED LIS'I'RICTS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR ThE VIOLS- `.'ION OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PAaIZ OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT 'IBEREAITH," BY AMENDING SECTION 3 •ikiMEOF, which was introduced and read at a regalar meeting of the City Council held on the 21st day of August, 1935, and reread at this meeting, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: ASS: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love and Mayor Hinder. NOES: Councilmen None. ABSSNP: Councilman Selby. Consideration was given to the application of Standard Oil Company for a permit to construct and maintain certain pipe lines in, under and across a certain portion of Sepulveda Boulevard within the City of El Segundo, and by common consent the matter was referred to the City Attorney for the preparation of the necessary legal documents requisite to the granting of the permit prayed for* NEW BUSINESS. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the following resolution be adopted: WHEREAS, Texaco Company has requested permission of this Council to make a geophysical survey for the purpose of dis- covering the presence or absence of deposits of petroleum at the following locations within the City of E1 Segundo, California, to -wit: Three points on Hillcrest Street, between Palm Avenue and Imperial Highway; and WHEREAS, this Council has no objection to the making of such survey upon the terms and conditions as hereinafter stated; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said Texaco Company be and it is hereby authorized to make said survey provided, however, that by proceeding under the provisions of this permission, said Company shall automatically thereby agree and be bound: late - To indemnify the City of El Segundo, California, and each and all of its officers, agents, servants and employees from and against any and all damage or claims of damage of any kind, nature or description whatsoever Which may arise out`of or be due indirectly or directly to the making of said survey or any act in connection therewith; and 2nd. - That said Texaco Company shall immediately pay upon proper demand therefor any and all damages which may be occasioned to either persons or property or both and which may be suffered by, through or on account of or which may arise out of the making of said survey or the doing or failure to do of any act in connection therewith. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. AUSTIN AND FREDERIC M• AS=v ARCHITECTS, TO FnZ AN APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES OF AWRICA THROUGH ME FEDERAL ZWG$NCY LEM 19TRLT ION OF PUBLIC W03MB FOR A GRANT TO AID IN FINANCING TEE CONSTRUCTION OF A PUBLIC LIBRARY BUMDTNG AND DESIGNATING SAID FIRM TO FaWISH SUCH INFORMATION AS = GOVERNMENT MAY REWEST, which mw read, be adopted.
