An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California., was called to order at 4:30 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in
the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerowf Hesser and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: Love and Selby.
By common consent the regular order of business was dispensed with.
Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that Ordinance
No. 196, which was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City
Council held on the 7th day of August, 1933., and reread at this meeting,
and which ordinance is entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY
TAXATION UPON THE TAXABLE-PROPERTY THEREIN AS A REVENUE
TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS (INCLUDING THE EL
SEGUNDO PUBLIC LIBRARY)! AND PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS
OF SAID CITY FOR THE CURRENT YEAR! 1935 -19360
be adopted. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerowf Hesser and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent Councilmen Love and Selby.
Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that
Resolution No. 321, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDOf
CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES LEVIED IN AND FOR
SAID CITY! SUFFICIENT TO RAISE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY FIXED
BY THE SAID CITY COUNCIL IN ORDINANCE NO. 196 THEREOF!
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON THE 26TH DAY OF AUGUST, A. D., 1955,
AND THE EXPENSE OF COLLECTION OF SAID AMOUNT, THE SAID
RATES HEREIN FIXED BEING THE RATES OF TAXES IN AND FOR SAID
CITY FOR THE CURRENT YEAR 1935 -19369
which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen Love and Selby.
The Clerk then read to the Council a communication from Sepulveda
Celebration Committees announcing a luncheon Tuesday., August 27th! 1935s
at the Police Pistol Range on Sepulveda Boulevard., North of Sunset
Boulevard in celebration of the..completion of .said Sepulveda Boulevard.
from San Fernando Boulevard to Washington Boulevard. Ordered filed.
A communication from Standard Oil Company, dated August 23rd, 1935s
requesting permission to excavate in Sepulveda Boulevard, for the purpose
of installing two pipe lines across said Highway at a point approximately
857.39 feet North of the Center line of Rosecrans Avenue, and to maintain
the same, was read to the Council. By general consent action respecting
the request was deferred until a future meeting of the Council.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Councilman Gerowf seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the meeting
adjourn. Carried.

DRILLING, MAINTENANCE AND CONSTRUCTION OF OIL AND
GAS WELLS THEREIN; DECLARING OIL AND GAS WELLS
WITHIN CERTAIN DISTRICTS WITAM SAID CITY TO BE
NUISANCES, AND YAAKING IT UNLAWFUL O DRILL, MAINTAIN
OR OPERATE OIL OR GAS WELLS WITHIN SUCH SPECIFIED
DIST'RIGTS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR IbE VIOLL^t ION OF
TtE PROVISIONS THEREOF; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
AND PARIS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH," BY
AMENDING SECTION 3 -DIEREOF,
which was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council
held on the 21st day of August, 1935, and reread at this meeting, be
adopted. Carried by the following vote:

NOES: Councilman None.
ABSENT': Councilman Selby.
Consideration was given to the application of Standard 011 Company
for a permit to construct and maintain certain pipe lines in, under and
across a certain portion of Sepulveda Boulevard within the City of El
Segundo, and by common consent the matter was referred to the City Attorney
for the preparation of the necessary legal docimsnts requisite to the
granting of the permit prayed for*
NEW BUSINESS,
Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the
following resolution be adopted:
WHEREAS, Texaco Company has requested permission of this
Council to make a geophysical survey for the purpose of dis-
covering the presence or absence of deposits of petroleum at
the following locations within the City of E1 Segundo,
California, to -wit: Three points on Hillcrest Street, between
Palm Avenue and Imperial Highway; and
WHEREAS, this Council has no objection to the making of
such survey upon the terms and conditions as hereinafter stated;
NOW THERMUM, BE IT RESOLVED, that said Texaco Company
be and it is hereby authorized to make said survey provided,
however, that by proceeding under the proTisions of this permission,
said Company shall automatically thereby agree and be bound:
let. - To indemnify the City of El Segundo, California, and
each and all of its officers, agents, servants and employees from
and against any and all damage or claims of damage of any kind,
nature or description whatsoever which may arise out'of or be
due indirectly or directly to the making of said survey or any
act in connection therewith; and
2nd. - That said Texaco Company shall immediately pay upon
proper demand therefor any and all damages which may be occasioned
to either persons or property or both and which may be suffered
by, through or on account of or which may arise out of the making
of said survey .or the doing or failure to do of any*aot in
connection therewith. .
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote:
