1935 APR 24 CC MINM-185 E1 Segundo, California. April 24th, 1935. At the hour of 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of E1 Segundo, California, said time and place being the time and place for the holding of a regular meeting of the City Council of said City, the City Clerk was the only person present. Said Clerk waited at the Council Chamber for a period of fifteen minutes, and no member of the City Council appearing, the Clerk declared the meeting stood adjourned until the hour of 8:15 o'clock P. An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 8:15 o'clock P. 'd. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: None. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 17th day of April, 1935, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN CO112JUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: SOUTHWEST LUNCHEON CLUB, undated, being copy of a resolution adopted by said Body, respecting the granting of a permit for a second race track in the Southwest district. Ordered filed. ORAL COA=iICATIONS. MRS. KATHERINE O'BRIEN, made oral application for permission to rent the Uity Hall Auditorium for the purpose of giving.a public dance. Following discussion of the matter, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that Mrs. Katherine O'Brien be granted permission to rent the City Hall Auditorium on the evening of May 3rd, 1935, a charge of $3.75 to be made therefor; it being understood, however, that this special low rental charge shall not be considered as a precedent respecting future rentals. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, ,elby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. NEW BUSINESS. The City Engineer presented his "Vacation Schedule — 1935" and requested the Council's approval of the same. After consideration of said schedule, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that the employees of the City of El Segundo, whose names are set forth in the schedule presented this date by the Uity Engineer of the City of E1 Segundo and entitled: "Vacation Schedule — 1935 ", be and they are hereby granted their customary annual two weeks vacation for the year 1935, effective between the dates set opposite their respective names in said schedule; it being provide4g however, that if, in the opinion of the City Engineer ja variation from said schedule is deemed advisable in the interests of the satisfactory functioning of the several departments under his jurisdiction, that then and in that event such variation may be made without further action of this Council; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of said "Vacation Schedule — 1935" be placed on file in the office of the City Clerk of said Uity, in his correspondence File No. 48 — City Engineer, for future reference. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. Councilman Love introduced Ordinance No. 194, entitled: All ORDIN:IINCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 156 OF SAID CITY, ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, PROHIBITING THE ESTABLISH - MENT OR C'A'RRYING ON WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF A CERTAIN PORTION OF SAID CITY, OF CERTAIN BUSINESSES, INDUSTRIES, TRADES AND CALLINGS HEREIN DECLARED AND DETERMINED TO BE NUISANCES, OBNOXIOUS AND DANGEROUS TO HTYAAN BEINGS ", ADOPTED ON THE 1ST DAY OF MARCH, A. D., 1929, BY ADDING A NBW SECTION THERETO TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 1 —A", AND BY AMENDING SECTION 2 THEREOF, which was read. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the meeting adjourn. Carried. Approved: Pdayor. . c�
