A regular meeting of the City Council of the California, was called to order at 7:00 o'cloc' above date, in the Council Chamber of the City by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Berow, Love, Selby and Councilmen tibsent: Hesser. 1V\,. 81- City of El Segundo, P. Y. on the Hall of said City, Mayor Binder. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS :MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 19th day of September, 1934, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. None. None. VMITTEN COM1IUNICATIONS. OPAL COM.=NICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING COMIMMITTEES. Councilman Gerow of the Public Works Committee repg�r��ted that the digging of holes preparatory to planting trees in"'bdain Street had been completed. The Council discussed the desirability of planting trees in East and West Pine Avenue, at the conclusion of said discussion it was movid by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby instructed to have holes dug in East and West Pine Avenue, for the planting of trees in said Street, said. holes to be dug approximately sixty feet apart. Carried. Councilman Gerow also reported that the cracks in the Coast Boulevard had been repaired. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL CO1unTITTEES. The City Attorney re orted that the $7,000.00 additional deposit in connection with the Sepulveda Boulevard Condemnation proceeding had been made with the Clerk of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. By general consent the Committee for the annual Halloween Celebration was granted permission to use the-Council Chamber on Tuesday evening October 2nd, 1934, for the purpose of holding a meeting of said 6ommittee. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS. The hour of 7:15 o'clock P. M. at this meeting, having hereto- fore been -fixed as the .time for receiving bids for furnishing the City of El Segundo with one new light, eight cylinder, two door sedan type automobile and fora used automobile now owned by said City, the Mayor arose, announced the hour of 7:14 o'clock P. M. and asked if there were any person or persons present who desired to file bids for furnishing said equipment. The hour of 7:15 o'clock P. M. having arrived, and all bids being in, the Mayor declared the time for receiving bids for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo with one new light, eight cylinder, two door, sedan type automobile and for a used automobile now owned by said City, as advertised for, closed. 82A x 00 MV The Deputy City Clerk announced that one bid had been received for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo with one new li -ht, eight cylinder, two door sec_antype automobile and for -a used automobile now owned by said City. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the City Council proceed to open, examine and publicly declare the bid received for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo with one neN, light, eight cylinder, tao door sedan type automobile and for a used automobile now owned by said City. Carried. ' The Council thereupon proceeded to open, examine and publicly declare said bid, which bid was found by said Council to be as follows, to -wit: "September 26, 1934. City Council City of El Segundo E1 Segundo, Calif. Dear Sirs: In answ ;er to your advertisement in the El Segundo Herald a copy enclosed, calling for bids on a new automobile to be furnished to the City of E1 Segundo Police Department I submit the following: Item No. 1- One new 1934 V type 8 Cylinder Ford 1'odel 40, Tudor Sedan type equipped with Safety Glass throughout, Spare Wheel, Tube and Tire, Tire Cover and Lock, Front and Rear Bumpers including a Low Speed High Rate Generator Total cost of the automobile as described above $735.78 Less municipality 7jo discount of the factory list 36.40 Cost of the above described Ford Tudor Sedan to the City of El Segundo, FOB E1 Segundo, Cal. $699.38 If the City of E1 Segundo will permit me to remove the Low 6peed High Rate Generator which was installed on the present Police Car approx- imately 30 days ago, before disposing of it, I will instill this Generator on the new Ford Tudor. If you wish to take advantage of this offer deduct $12.50 from the above delivered price. Delivery to be made within 10 days of the noti- fication of the acceptance of this bid. Item No. 2 - One new, 1934 V type 8 Cylinder Ford 'lodel 40, Tudor Sedan as described in Item No. 1 hereof. Cash delivered price of the new Ford Tudor $699.38 Allowance for 1932 Ford Model 18 Tudor Sedan Motor Number 18- 155526 owmed by the City of El Segundo less Police Equipment $300.00 Cash price of the new Ford Tudor Sedan as described in Item.No. 1 less the allowance on the used Ford Tudor, F.O.B. E1 Segundo, Calif. $399.39 If the City of El Segundo wishes to take advantage of the offer outlined in Item No. 1 in regards to the removal of the Generator now on the present Police Car deduct $12.50 from the above net price. Delivery to be made within 10 days of the notifi- cation of the acceptance of this bid. Item No. 3 - No bid. 1 e 1i -83 I '7isr to call your attention to the fact that I am a member of the Blue Eagle Division of the National Recovery-Administration and have signed the President's Reemployment Agreement and that I am operating under the Ylotor Vehicle Trade Code. My government registration number for the year of 1934 is No. 4 A 861. Enclosed you will find cashier's check in the amount of $70.00 to cover the 10% of the total amount of the bid submitted. Said bid was accompanied by Cashier's Check No. 182767, drawn on E1 Segundo Branch Security -First National Bank of Los Angeles, payable to City of El Segundo in amount of $70.00. After consideration of said bid, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that Resolution No.308, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, A'NARDING TO `ZRA_ E. ESCOBAR, THE TQ11TTRACT F01-1 FUTRNISHING SAI CITY 17ITH A 1`x7 AUTO,iOBILE FOR THE USE OF THE70LICE DEPART',SENT OF SAID CITY, AND FOR A USED AUTOi:iOBILE NOW 01,1'NED BY SAID CITY, which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Hesser. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that Ordinance No. 193, entitled: AN 'ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING CONSENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF S,"-ID CITY FOR THE IMPROVETMENT BY THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES OF A CERTAIN PORTION OF' I?dPERIAL HIG H7.'AY WITHIN SAID CITY AS A PART OF THE COUNTY SYSTEM OF HIGH'.`AYS, which was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 19th day of September, 1934, and reread at this meeting, be adopted.
