October 31st, 1934.
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California., was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. IT. on the above date, in
the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder,
Mayor.

READING OF UNUTES OF PREVIOUS PTETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 24th day of October,
1934, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman
Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read.
Carried.
WRITTEN COLUVIUNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
H. C. SMILEY, DISTRICT HEALTF OFFICER, dated October 23rd, 1934,
reporting as to the activities of Los Angeles County Health Department as
Health Officer of the City of El Segundo within said City during the month
of September, 1934. Ordered filed.

REPORTS OF STANDING COiUaTTEES.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COLZUTTEES.
The City Engineer reported receipt of a communication from the State
Department of Public Works, transmitting memorandum of agreement for the doing
of certain work by said Department of Public Works in Sepulveda Boulevard
within the City of E1 Segundo. The letter recuested execution of said agreement
by the proper officers of the City of El Segundo. However, action in this
regard was deferred pending examination of the agreement by the City Attorney.
The Street Superintendent advised that certain property owners had
complained about the trimming of certain trees in the public parkways within
the City. It appearing that some of the trees in question are so large and
heavy that they create a hazard to pedestrians and motor vehicles when the
earth becomes softened during the rainy season, the Council decided to
examine said trees on Thursday, November lst, and at that time to further
direct the Street Superintendent with respect to the trimming thereof.

Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that Minta
Curtzwiler, City Treasurer, be and she is hereby granted her customary annual
two weeks vacation beginning November 7th, 1934. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None. Absent:, Councilman Love.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the Altar
Society of St. Anthony's Church be and it is hereby granted permission to use
the City Hall Auditorium, without charge, on November 13th, 1934, for the
purpose of holding a benefit card party. Carried.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the meeting
adjourn. Carried.
