An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1
Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P: M. on the above
date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E.
Binder, Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, gesser, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: Love.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS METING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 23rd day of May, 1934,
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman
Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read*
uarr ied.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
1915 Bond Act Committee, dated may 28th, 1934, commenting upon the
uncertainty of interpreation of the 1915 Bond Act in the absence of Court
decisions respecting various phases of the law, recommending the continuation
of the Committee, and requesting an appropriation to carry on its work.
By general consent action was withheld until a future meeting.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS.
REPORTS OF STANDING CO=TEES.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
The City Engineer reported that in the prosecution of the improvement
of Arizona Drive within the Uity of El Segundo, it became necessary to
perform certain extra work, the cost of which was paid from the General Fund,
and that from correspondence and conversations had with representatives of
the Division of Highways of the State of Ualifornia, it is believed the
State will reimburse the City for these expenditures.
ne submitted for the U ouncil's approval an itemized statement of these
expenditures, which amounted to $850.37 and recommended that said statement
be forwarded to the Division of Highways, with a request that same be paid.
It was thereupon moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Uouncilman
liesser, that the statement of Ueneral Fund expenditures made in connection
with the improvement of Arizona Drive within the City of El Segundo, as
presented to this Council this date by the City Engineer of said City, be
and the same is hereby approved and said City Engineer is hereby authorized
and directed to forward a copy thereof to the Division of Highways of the
State of California, with a request that the Uity of El Segundo be reimbursed
out of Highway funds to the extent hereinbefore indicated. Carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor.Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilman Love,
The Chief of Police announced the appointment of certain individuals
as Special Police Officers of the City of S 1 Segundo and requested that
his action be approved. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Selby,
seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the appointments by the Uhief of Police
of the City of it Segundo of K. S. Searles, A. A. Harris, R. F. Linch,
J. A. McDonald, Floyd L. Ingram, and G. B. Floods, as Special Police Officers

of the City of Ll Legundo be and the same are hereby ratified and approved,
and that said appointees be compensated in accordance with that certain
resolution adopted by this Council May 23rd, 1934, of record at Page M-16
of the .Uinutes of the proceedings of this Council; also that the appointment
of Robert B. leacham likewise be ratified and approved, this officer to
serve without compensation from the City of El Segundo. Carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Layor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen Love.
ltie City Attorney reported having conferred with hir. Tipton of the
Shell Oil Company respecting certain charges made by said Company in excess
of the amount agreed upon for relocating certain of its facilities adjacent
to Arizona Drive within the City of R1 Segundo, made necessary by the
improvement of said thoroughfare; that mr. Tipton requested an opportunity
to present additional facts in substantiation of the excess dharges before
a final decision in the matter is made by the Council. The request was
consented to by the Council.

No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it
was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman liesser, that the meeting
adjourn until ri:onday, the 4th day of June, 1934, at the hour of 4:15 o•clock
