ILLcClain, under his contract with the City of t Segundo for the improvement of Arizona Drive, sometimes also known as Sepulveda 3oulevard r:iti.in the City* of 31 Segundo. It appearin,; that certain moneys are due the said Contractor, which should be paid from State funds, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman 'erow, that the following resolution be adopted: the City Engineer of the City of it Segundo, California, pursuant to proceedin;s heretofore had by this Council, in connection :with the prosecution of the work or improvement of Arizona :hive, within said City, under a contract heretofore awarded to J. Law— 371 At this point the Clerk announced that the hour of 7:00 o'clock P. 1u. -this date, was the time fixed for receiving bids for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo with certain items of crushed rock, as specified in that certain "Notice to Bidders on Crushed Rock ", published in S1 Segundo Herald IY;arch 8th and 15th, 1934, and that two bids only had been received; Also that the same hour this date,was the time fixed for receiving bids for furnishing public pound service, including; the furnishing of a public pound and performance of the duties of pound master in and for the City of L1 Segundo, California, as specified in the notice inviting bids thereon, published in E1 Segundo Herald, Llarch 8th and 15th, 1934, and that one bid only had been received. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the Council proceed to open, examine and publicly declare the bids received for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo with certain items of crushed rock as advertised for. Uonsideration was given to the matter and it appearing that the proposed installation could be made by the :%ity of -1 Segundo by force account as c.eaply as thougy the work was performed under contract by a contractor, and it appearin° to be d _,sirable, under the circumstances, to have the work performed by force account by the amity, in order to employ local workmen, it was moved by Councilman ,erow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the Street Superintendent of the City of El Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and directed to instsll flasher type boulevard stop signs at the following locations, to -wit: Sepulveda Soul' -yard and imperial i:ig -.way Sepulveda Boulevard and :;rand avenue Sepulveda Boulevard and Z Segundo Boulevard Sepulveda 2oulevard an- 3osecrans Avenue at a total cost of not to exceed '450.00. Loved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to address a letter to Inglewood Humane Society, Inc., expressing this Council's appreciation of the satisfactory manner in which it discharged its contract for the performance of public pound service during the past year; also for the courteous treatment shown the public by the representatives of said Society. Carried. Loved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow,. that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby ordered to purchase forty gallons of white traffic lacquer at a cost of not to exceed ;80.00, said lacquer to be used for painting a white center stripe in E1 Segundo Boulevard within the City of E1 Segundo.
