June 27th, 1934.
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by the City Clerk,:
the mayor being absent.
Councilman Gerow was unanimously Ohosen Mayor pro -tem, and he immediately
assumed the duties of the N,ayor.

Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser and Love.

HEADING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MTINGo
i'he minutes of the regular meeting held on the 20th day of June, 1934
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love,
seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.

The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
LOS ANGELES CO= HEALTH DEPARUM- IT, dated June 20th, 1934, being a
report of the work done for the city of El Segundo for the month of Way,
1934. Ordered filed.
SANTA XNICA CHAMER OF COUMCE, dated June 14th, 1934, being an
invitation to attend the ceremonies incident to the dedication of a certain
portion of the Coast Highway within the limits of the City of Santa Lbnica,
July 2nd, 1934. Ordered filed.
ORAL COUMNICATIONS.
:m~. P. McNally addressed the Council relative to employment by the City
of El Segundo. The matter was discussed briefly and it was determined to
defer any action in the matter until a meeting at which all members of the
council would be present and tr. LICl:ally was so advised by the Wayor.

the Chief of Police announced the revocation, on June 25th, 1934,
of the appointment of U. b. Woods as a Special Police Officer of the City
of L1 Segundo.
The City Attorney reported having called the Clerk of Judge Georgia
mllock to inquire whether or not a decision had been reached in the
Sepulveda boulevard condemnation matter and was informed that the Judge
still has the matter under advisement.
uouncilu:an Selby appeared at the meeting at this point, the hour
being 7 :07 o'clock P. ti. and immediately took his seat at the Council table.
The Clerk reported that by reason of the failure on the part of
certain property owners to pay their annual installments upon certain special
assessments, there is not sufficient money in certain of the special
assessment interest and redemption funds of the City of Ll Segundo to meet
bonds and interest coupons maturing July 2nd, 1934, and that, therefore, it
is desirable to transfer monies from the veneral fund to the special funds
which are inadequate.
it was thereupon moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman
Love, that the City clerk of the City of r;1 Segundo and the City treasurer
of said City be and they are hereby authorized and directed to transfer from
the General Fund of the City of E1 Segundo to the funds hereinafter named,
as an advancement to said funds, the amounts set forth aftez the funds
indicated, as follows, to -wit:
Grand Avenue and Lateral Sewerage District No. 1 $1260.56
Lateral Sewerage District No. 2 5510.16
Main Street Improvement 717.57
Maple Avenue Improvement 30.99
Valley Ave. and Portions of Holly and Pine Aves. 110.49

NEW BUSIXESS.
Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the
City Clerk of the City of El Segundo be and he is hereby directed to address
a letter to Byron E. Edwards, Chairman Athls tic Committee, Standard Oil Company
of California at E1 Segundo, extending an invitation to the Athletic Committee
of said Company to hold its annual picnic in 1934 in E1 Segundo, and to advise
the Chairman of said Committee that the City d E1 Segundo will endeavor to
procure suitable grounds for the event and do all things reasonable and
proper to make the said annual picnic a success. Carried.
Councilman Gerow announced that the Utopian Society of E1 Segundo

desired to use the City Hail Auditorium for a regular meeting on
Monday, July 2nd, 1934 in lieu of Tuesday, July 3rd, 1934, which
latter night had heretofore been reserved for said Society. By general
consent the substitution was agreed to.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that the
Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized to purchase a lawn
mower and grass catcher at a cost of not to exceed $87950. Carried by
the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love and Selby.
Noes: Councilmen None,
Absent: Councilman Binder.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this session,
it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that the
meeting adjourn until Tuesday, the 3rd day of July, 1934, at the hour of
7:00 o'clock P. M. Carried*
