June 20th, 1934.
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder,
Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Selby and mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: Love.
READING OF =UTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 6th day of June, 1934,
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman
Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read.
Carried.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 13th day of June, 1934,
were read, without error or omission appearing, and were approved as read
upon motion of Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, which carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 18th day of
June, 1934, were read without error or omission appearing. It was thereupon
moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Messer, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.
WRITTEN C012MNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
G. A. OVER, Assistant Supervisor, Utopian Society of E1 Segundo, dated
June 20th, 1934, thanking the Council for permitting the organization to use
the City Hall Auditorium June 19th. Ordered filed.
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF LOS A.FGELES, dated June 15th, 1934,
advising that due to lack of funds the Board cannot repair the roadway from
the Coast Boulevard to the beach at Hyperion, which said improvement was
petitioned for by residents of the City of El Segundo, and which this Council
favors. Ordered filed.
PEAT, MARWICK, MITCHELL & COMPANY, dated June 18th, 1934, with reference
to filing a proposal for auditing the books and records of the City of E1 Segundo.
The communication was ordered filed and by general consent the City Clerk was
instructed to advise said Company that when this Council is prepared to consider
the matter of auditing, said Company will be advised.

Mir. A. Cendo addressed the Council relative to employment by the City of
E1 Segundo and he was instructed to confer with the Street Superintendent on
June 21st, 1934.
Mr. Frank L. Snow, representing El Segundo Chamber of Commerce, applied
for permission to use the Council Chamber of the'City Hall July 12th, 1934,
following which it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser,
that E1 Segundo Chamber of Commerce be and it is hereby granted permission to
use the Council Chamber of the City Hall, July 12th, 1934, without charge, for
the purpose of conducting a meeting of the Harbor District Chambers of Commerce.
Carried.

Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilma Hesser, that the demands be
allowed and warrants drawn on and paid out of the respective funds covering the
same. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen Love.
NEW BUSINESS.
Agreeable to the request of Councilman uerow, it was moved by Councilman
Selby, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that E1 Segundo Utopian Society be granted
permission to use the City Hall Auditorium for the purpose of holding its meetings
on Tuesday nights of each month, at the customary monthly rental charge of
;15.00 per month, provided, however, that in such months as there are five
Tuesdays, the monthly rental price shall be 018.75; provided further, that the
permission hereby granted is subject to the paramount prior right of the.public
to use the said auditorium; subject also to the right of this Council to revoke
the permission hereby granted at any time in its discretion. Carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder,
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilman Love.
Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that.Lyle Balmer
be and he is hereby granted permission to use the City Hall Auditorium, Saturday,
June 23rd, 1934, for the purpose of conducting a public dance, provided that
the rental charge of $2.50 therefor be first paid; and provided further, that
Mr. Balmer will personally supervise the conducting of said dance; and provided
further that the permission hereby granted is subject to revocation at any time
in the discretion of this Council. Carried.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the meeting adjourn.
Carried.
