• An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1
• Segundo, California, was called to order at 4215 o'clock P. M. on the above
date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E.
Binder, Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: Hesser and Love.
• Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the regular
order of business be dispensed with. Carried.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS.
The following commmications were read and disposed of as indicated:
LOS ANGELES COUNTY LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES, undated, calling attention
to the Forty -First regular meeting of said League, to be held at Santa Monica,
• June 21st, 1934, at 6:30 o'clock P. M.- Ordered filed.
J. L. McCLAIN, Contractor, dated June 18th, 1934, requesting payment to
- him of that portion of the total amount now due him for labor and materials
furnished in constructing the improvement in Arizona Drive, within the City
of E1 Segundo, which is to be paid from County funds, now in the City.
Treasury. Ordered filed.- -
J. L. McCLAIN, Contractor, dated June 18th, 1934, certifying that to the
best of his knowledge and belief, all bills for labor and materials, supplies
and all other incidental expenses in connection with the improvement by him
of Arizona Drive in accordance with his contract with the City of E1 Segundo
have been paid in full. Ordered filed.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL CONMITTLES.
The Chief of Police announced the-appointment on June 15th, 1934, of
R. H. Swain as a Special Police Officer of the City of E1 Segundo, to fill
the vacancy created due to the illness-of Special Officer Stiles. Moved by
Councilmen Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the appointment by
R. T. Hutchins, Chief of Police of the -City of El Segundo, of R. H. Swain
as a Special Police Officer, be and the same is hereby ratified and approved,
and that until his appointment is revoked, said Officer be compensated at
the rate of $7.00 per day, for each day of twelve hours he is actually
engaged in police duty within the City of El Segundo. Carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and Mayor Binder,
Noes: Councilmen None,
Absent:- Councilmen Hesser and Love.

The Council, being informed that it was the recommendation of the Chief of
Police, who was present at this meeting, that the services of H. J. Sherphorn
as a Police Officer of the City of E1 Segundo be dispensed with, it was thereupon
moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the services of

with as of June 18th, 1934„ arr eTby t following vots:'
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and :izyor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen Hesser and Love.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the City Clerk
and the City Treasurer of the City of E1 Segundo be authorized and directed to
transfer from the General Fund of the City of 151 Segundo totype Library Yund of
said City the sum of $2000.00 and to make proper entry thereof on their
respective record books. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen Hesser and Love.
Moved by Councilmen Selby, seconded by Councilman Uerow, that the
following resolution be adopted:
"BE IT RESOLTED that H. T. Hutchins, City Engineer of
the City of E1 Segundo, ualifornia, be and he is hereby
authorized and empowered to sign and file, on behalf of said
City, an application to the State Emergency Relief Administration
for a project to be known as F1 Segundo Sanitary Sewers -
District No. 4, by the construction in the district therein
referred to, within said City, of a certain sanitary sewer
system consisting of mains, laterals and appurtenances, said
system to connect with the existing sewer system of Los Angeles
County Sanitation District No. 5, with full authority to accept
and agree to, on behalf of the City of N1 Segundo, the
conditions as set forth in the application.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen Hesser and Love.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the following
resolutions be adopted:
"RESOLVED, that from and after June 16th, 1934, and until
the further order of this Council, all resolutions or parts
of resolutions respecting the compensation of, or time off
allowances to regular police officers of the City of E1 Segundo
for extra or overtime services, be and the same are hereby
declared to be suspended.or inoperative and that for such
overtime or extra services as said regular police officers may
be required to perform under the. direction of or in accordance
with the instructions of the City of Police of the .City of E1
Segundo, they be compensated on•a pro rata basis at their
usual monthly salary rates."
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen Hesser and Love.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the meeting adjourn.
