Councilman Gerow of the Public,:yorks Committee, advised that he thought
the Gardening Department could use a trailer to advantage in gathering up
waste and trimmings from the lawns and parks throughout the City and for the
transportation of tools; that he owned a trailer body and frame, whichhe would
donate to the City, and that there is a used axle and wheel at the municipal
warehouse, all of which the municipal mechanic might assemble to make a
satisfactory trailer unit. After discussion, it was moved by Councilman
Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that the Street Superintendent be authorized
and directed to cause the L.unicipal Mechanic to build a trailer for the use of
the Garden Department and to purchane necessary 2= pneumatic tires and tubes
for use on the same, at a total cost of not to exceed ;25.00. Carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.

At this point, the Clerk announced that the hour of 7:00 o'clock P. L.
this date was the time fixed for receiving bids for furnishing the City of E1
Segundo with crushed rock as specified in that certain "Notice to Bidders on
Crushed Rock ", published in Ll Segundo Herald February 15th and 22nd, 1934,
and that two bids only had been received.
It was thereupon moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby,
that the Council proceed to open, examine and publicly declare all of the bids
received for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo with crushed rock as advertised
for. Carried.

Consideration was given to the necessity for constructing additional trunk
line sewer facilities in the Easterly portion of the City,
serving the Northrop Airplane factories located therein, whicch saidpfactories ose of
are now employing several hundred men and will greatly increase the number in
the near future.
At the conclusion of the discussion it was moved by Councilman ,,erow,
seconded by Councilman Selby, that I.X. 0. F. Peasnall, a civil engineer, be
employed to make the necessary surveys and Prepare the necessary plans and
s:ecifications for the construction of a trunk line sever in an masterly
Portion of the City of E1 Segundo, said work to be prosecuted under the
direction of the City Engineer of the City of =�1 Seguno. is. Peasnall
shall be,in and conclude his employment at the discretion of said City
Engineer, unless otherwise determined by this Council. His compensation is
hereby fixed at the rate of $1.10 per hour for such time as he is actually
engaged in the p ;:rformance of the work indicated, for the City of -1 Segundo.
