1934 AUG 29 CC MIN62- co E1 Segundo, California. August 29th, 1934. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 otclock P. M. nn the above date in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Love. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 22nd day of August, 1934, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. NRITTEN COTEITUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: MELVIN F. EATON, dated August 27th, 1934, asking considera- tion for appointment to the position of Fire Engine Driver. Ordered filed. 1915 IMPROVEMENT BOND ACT CO10ITTEE, dated August 17th, 1934, referring to a certain report of said Committee and urging an appropriation of $100.00 to assist in financing additional litigation necessary to the determination of the rights and duties of cities under the Improvement Bond Act of 1915. Ordered filed. Messrs. W. Council relative Mr. Morgan to co,. this meeting and investigated and next meeting for None. ORAL COTUffMICATIONS. E. Morgan and M. Zivalic each addressed the to employment by the City. The Mayor advised Ztact the Street Superintendent subsequent to Mr. Zivalic was advised that his case would be that he might appear before the Council at its a decision. REPORTS OF STANDING COLUAITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES. The City Attorney reported receipt of a communication from Mayor Baudino of Glendale, requesting the presence of Mayor Binder and himself at a special committee meeting respecting con- tracts for the performance of health services for cities by the County Health Department, to be held September 12th, 1934. The Mayor stated he would attend said meeting and the Attorney stated he would advise Mayor Baudino to this effect, so that arrangements for the meeting may be completed with Doctor Pomeroy, Los Angeles- County Health Officer. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Councilman Gerow, who, on the lst day of August, 1934, introduced Ordinance No. 193, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA , DESIGNATING CERTAIN OF THE TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL BOUNDARIES OF SAID CITY AS TAX DISTRICT M,.- -63 NO. 11 CERTAIN OF SUCH TERRITORY AS TAX DISTRICT NO. 21 AND THE REMAINDER OF THE TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL BOUNDARIES OF SAID CITY AS TAX DISTRICT NO. 3, FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONVENIENCE IN THE ASSESS- MENT AND COLLECTION OF TAXES WITHIN SAID PORTIONS OF SAID CITY AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 152 OF SAID CITY, requested the withdrawal of such introduction, inasmuch as the necessity for the adoption of said ordinance is not now apparent. Such withdrawal was consented to by the Council. PAYING BILLS. None. NEW BUSINESS. None. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
