1934 APR 16 CC MIN384 - L. El Segundo, California. A--ril 16th, 1934. An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 1:00 o'clock F. L1. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Ball of said City, by Peter E. Binder, 1%.ayor. . ROLL CU L. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Love, Selby and :,ayor Binder. Councilmen Lbsent: Hesser. Councilman Hesser appeared at the meeting at this time, the hour being 1:04 o'clock F. 14- and im7lediately tool: his seat at the Council !able. The City Clerk reported that the returns of the General Imicipal Election held on Monday, the 9th day of .spril, 1934, in the City of El Segundo, California, were then and had been in his possession in the envelopes containin them, in the same condition as when received, and the said Clerk presented said returns to the City- Council at this meeting. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that the Oity Council proceed forthwith to canvass said returns. The-said motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen- Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and L:ayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. Said motion being carried, the City Council then proceeded forthwith to publicly examine and canvass said returns, and upon the completion of said canvass by said Council-, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the following resolution be adopted: "S'11-ERR ?:S, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of E1 Segundo, County of Los Angeles, State of Calif- ornia, on Monday, the 9th day of April, 1934, as required by law; and 171 =:S, it appears that- notice of said election was duly and legally -iven, and that there were three voting precincts established for holding said election, consistin` of a consolidation of the regular voting precincts for holding State and County elections (as the said precincts were last established by the 3oard of Supervisors of Los Angeles County prior to the date of said election); that election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished, and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed and the returns thereof made and declared, in time, form and manner as required by the General Laws of the State of California governing elections in cities of the fifth and sixth classes; and, +I Rri�S, the City Council of. said City of El Segundo met at the Council Chamber of t:le said Council on Londay, the 16th day of April, 1934, to canvass the returns of said election and install the newly elected officers, whereupon the said Council found that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, the result of said election, and other matters required by law, to be as herein- after stated; NO'5', THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved and declared as follows: T`:at said General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of E1 Segundo, California, on Monday, the 9th day of April, 1934, in time, form and manner as required by law; That there were three voting precincts established for the purpose of holding said election, consisting of a consolidation of the regular voting precincts established for holding general state and county elections, as follows: L-- 385 Consolidated Voting Precinct "A" comprising State and County Precincts Nos. 1 and 2; Consolidated Voting Precinct "B" comprising State and County Precincts Nos. 3 and 4; and Consolidated Voting Precinct "C" eomprisinf-: State and County Precincts Nos. 5 and 6. AIM, --?;, I "2 FUR =11 RESOL -TED, that the City Clerk shall enter on the records of the Cit, Council a statement of the result of the said election showing: (1) The whole number of votes (ballots) cast in said City of El Segundo; (2) The names of the persons voted for; (3) The office to fill which each person was voted for; (4) The nu -fser of votes �,iven at each Precinct to each of such persons; and, (5) `The number of votes given in said City to each of such persons, and the term for -which each was elected. LeCarthy, City Llerk of the jity of 2;1 Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and legally introduced and adopted by the amity Council of the City of B1 oegundo, California, at an adjourned regular meeting of the said Council held on I ::onday, the 16th day of April, 1934, and that the same was adopted by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, nesser, Love, Selby and : yor Binder. The City Clerk then reported that he had caused to be entered in the :::inute Book a statement of the result of said election, showing all matters required by law to be shown therein, and that he had done so by copying in the res ,-lution last hereinabove set forth in full. The City Clerk then read the minutes of this meeting up to this point, whereupon it was moved by.Councilman Love, and seconded by Councilran Lelby, that the said minutes stand approved as read. Binder and Orest 0. :lesser, havin-- completed their previous terms as members of the City Council, being present at the meeting at this point i=-iediately took, subscribed and filed their respective constitutional oaths of office as required by law for their new terms and took their seats as mecioers of the City Council for their new terns at once with Councilmen John A. Gerow, ueorge Love and �silliam R. Selby, and the Council as thus constituted proceeded forthwith to organize by the election of a t.:ayor. Councilman Peter E. Binder was unanimously chosen :.Ayor and he immediatel;- assumed the duties of his office. The City Clerk then read to the Council a letter announcing the Thirty -Ninth regular monthly meeting of the Los Angeles County League o_ Lunicipalities, to be held, at .3elvedere Health Center, 3elvedere, California, '- hursday, April 19th, 1934. The I.ayor expressed the opinion that in view of the important discussions on the program for said meeting, as many of the Councilmen as could go should attend, and each announced that he would advise the Clerk not later than ';+ednesday respecting his ability so to do. i..oved by Councilmran Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the purchase of a rest Sanitor and one gallon of disinfecting, fluid L- 389 be authorized at a cost of not to exceed ' ;30.00.
