KNOW ALL NEN BY THESE PRESENTS: That'we, the undersigned, being all of the members'of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, do hereby give our written consent to the holding of a special meeting of the City Council of said City, at the Council Chamber It the City Hall thereof, No. 203 Richmond Street, in the City of E1 Segundo, California, on Thursday, the 7th day of September, 1933, beginning at the hour of 4:15 o•clock P. M* of the said day, for the purpose of considering and acting upon the proposition of requesting the State of California to make a revision of a certain limitation made in connection with its allotment for the improvement of Arizona Drive (Sepulveda Boulevard) in the City of El Segundo, in this, thkt instead of one -half of the cost of clearing of right -of -way in said project, that said State be requested to permit the payment of the full amount of clearing of such right -of -way out of such state funds; and we hereby expressly waive any and all notice of the time and place of said meeting and do hereby consent and agree that the same may be so held at said time and at said place. C) E1 Segundo, California. September 7th, 1933. A special meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 4:15 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of E1 Segundo, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor of said Uity, said meeting being held pursuant to the foregoing written Consent and Waiver of Notice. ROIL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Rrimme1, Love, and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Selby. 't'he City Attorney related to the Council the result of a conference he and City Engineer Hutchins had had this date with Mr. S. Y. Cortelyou, District sngineer of the State Highway Division, and that as a result of said conference, he deemed it advisable that a resolution requesting State aid in the matter of the improvement of Arizona Drive (State Highway No. 60)-be adopted. After lengthy discussion, it was moved by Councilman Brimmel, seconded by Councilman Love, that the following resolution be adopted: WHEREAS, proceedings for the improvement of that portion of State Highway No. 60 of the State of California, lying within the limits of the City of El Segundo, California, and which said portion within said City is commonly known, designated and referred to as "Arizona Drive ", have been pending over a period of several years; AND, REEREAS, said proceedings have now reached the stage where bids for the actual work of constructing the proposed improvement have been received, and are now being held under consideration by the City Council of said City; AND, WEREAS, this Council is informed that the State of California under a new policy of the National Recovery Adminis- tration is bearing the entire expense of clearing rights of way on projects to which said aid is extended; AND, WHEREAS, the improvement of said portion of said State Highway above referred to is of great importance to the general public, as adjoining portions both to the north and south &hereof have been completed; AND, WHEREAS, the State of California has appropriated, subject to certain limitations, the sum of $98,500.00 to be extended as state aid to said project; AND, WHEREAS, unless the request hereinafter made be granted there will not be sufficient moneys available with which to construct and complete said project at this time; AND, AREAS, if the request hereinafter made is granted, said project can be constructed and completed well within the amount of said appropriation; NOW, AFORE, in view of the foregoing premises the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, does hereby resolve, declare and determine as follows: FIRST: What the State of California, through the Division of Highways of said State, be requested to bear the entire expense of clearing the right of way in connection with said project above referred to, the estimated amount of which is $31,850.00, instead of one -half of such cost or expense of clearing same, as previously indicated in the allotment of state aid to said project. SECOND: That said City Council hereby represents to the officials of said State and said Division of Highways in charge of such matters, that the total amount of the allotment or appropriation will not be exceeded by virtue of the granting of the request herein made, and that unless such request is granted said City will be without sufficient finances with which to 2501, construct and complete said project; THIRD: That the City Engineer of said City is hereby authorized and instructed to deliver a copy of this resolution, duly certified by the City Clerk of said Uity, to the Division of Highways of said State, together with such other information or data as such Division may require in order to properly place said matter before said Division and secure the granting of the request herein made. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Srimmel, Love and mayor Binder. Noes: Councilman Gerow, Absent: Councilman Selby. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
