1933 MAY 03 CC MINEl Segundo, California. may 3rd, 1933. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to o--der at 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on-the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter Be Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Brimael, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: None. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 26th day of April, 1933, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilmen Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COM14UNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: BOARD OF DIRECTORS, METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, an invitation to attend the Acqueduct Progress Celebration, to be held at Cabazon, California, May 13th, 1933. Ordered filed. JOHN F. DOCKWEILER, Representative in Congress, dated April 26th, 1933, acknowledging receipt of a copy of a resolution adopted by the Council, April 3rd, 1933, respecting the establishment of a certain standard of municipal bonds and the issuance thereon of currency to cities by the Federal Government; stating that he is giving careful study to this problem and is glad to have'before him the views of the Council. INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT COMMISSION, dated April 18th, 1933, inviting the Council to send a representative to the All California Accident 175 170L�, Prevention Congress, to be held at San Francisco, May 24th and May 25th, pursuant to proclamation of the Governor of the State of California. The City Attorney advised the Council that pursuanttb its request he had prepared a bill to amend Section 16 of Chapter 210, Statutes of 1901, which would enable property owners *squiring aid from the County Welfare Department, who own or have an equity in property and are temporarily unable to find'employment, to obtain such aid without the necessity of taking the pauper's oath and having a lien filed against their properties by the County; that he had forwarded copies of his proposed amendment to Assemblyman Greene and Senator J. W. McKinley, with a letter of explanation, but recommending that the bill be not presented to the Legislature unless the Council, after further consideration, desired to push the matter. Following discussion, by generdl consent the City Attorney was instructed to wire Assemblymad Greene to cause the bill to be introduced in the present session of the State Legislature if possible. The Fire Chief informed the Council that a new battery is required for the fire engine and by general consent he was instructed to obtain prices for presentation to the Council at its neat meeting. uNFIlJISHED BUSINESS.
