March 17th, 1933.
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1
Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. I:. on the
above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by
Peter E. Binder, Mayor.
BOLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the
regular order of business be dispensed with. Carried.
'i'he Chief of Police announced the appointment of M. D. Cox as a Special
rolice Officer and requested the Council's approval of the appointment*
beloved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that the appointment
of 11. D. Cox as a Special Policd Officer of the City of E1 Segundo be and
the same is hereby approved. Carried.
The City Clerk then read a letter from the State Tax Committee of the
California I%I nicipal Utilities Association, dated March 16th, 1933, which
has reference to Senate Constitutional Amendment No. 30, the purpose of
which is to tax all mun_cipally owned public utilities of the State of
California, and requesting that this Council address a communication to
Senator J. W. McKinley and to the Committee on Revenue and Taxation of
the California State Senate, indicating this Council's opposition to any
such legislation.
Following discussion of the subject, it was moved by Councilman Selby,
seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby
directed to address a communication to Senator J. W. McKinley and to the
Senate Committee on Revenue and Taxation, expressing the opposition of the
City Council of the City of E1 Segundo to the adoption of any legislation
by the Legislature of the State of California, which will cause a tax to
be levied upon any utility owned and operated by any municipality or other
political subdivision or district of the State of California. Carried by
the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Lnayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.

The Council thereupon examined and considered the tentative report
of the appraisers employed to fix the values of lands to be acquired by the
city of El Segundo in the proposed opening, r:idan_nL; and improvement of
Arizona Drive (also sometimes known as Sepulveda Boulevard), within the
City of E1 Segundo, which report was filed with this Council Wednesday,
March 15th. At the conclusion of the examination of said report, the Clerk
was directed to request the appraisers, or one of them, to appear at the
Council Chamber on +ednesday, IAarch 22nd, at or about the hour of 8:00
o'clock P. :d., for the purpose of discussing certain matters contained in
said report.
