A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder,
Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: None.
R::ADING OF MIN= OF PREVIOUS ]%ZETINCS.
The minutes of the special meeting held on the 16th day of iebruary,
1933, were read, without errors or omissions appearing, and were approved
as read upon motion of Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel,
which carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on th3 17th day of
February, 1933, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved
by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.
The notation of the adjourned regular meeting scheduled to be held
February 21st, 1933, ras then read, and was approved as read upon motion
of Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krim4el, which carried.

dated February 28th, 1933, urging attendance at a meetin_ of said League

H. C. SMILE°, L. D., District Health Officer, dated February 26th,
1933, being a report of the activities of the Health Department of Los
Angeles County within the City of El Segundo, during the month of January,
1933, as health Officer of said City. Ordered filed.
RyDCI DO 1.RIA NO. 935, ORDLR OF EAGLES, dated February
27th, 1933, inviting the Council to attend a civic and fraternal mass
meeting, sponsored by said Fraternity, at Redondo Beach, California,
Wednesday, March Sth, 1933, for the purpose of discussing the Old Age
Pension Act, which the lef;islature of the State of California has been
asked to nullify, and stating that in event of repeal of said Act, the
burden of taxation for the purpose indicated will be transferred from the
State to the County tax payers. Ordered filed.

Association of Clerks, Auditors, Assessors and`Treasurers, submitting a
resolution adopted b-: said Association at its meeting held at Calexico,
1,'ebruary 11th, 1933, pledging its support to the gasoline tax program of

the legislators from this district, urgin,- their support of :assembly Bill
No. 1172, the new gasoline tax measure sponsored by said League. It
appearing that this Council has already taken the steps sug?ested in said
communication, the letter was ordered filed.

LEAGUE OF CaLIFOMTIA MUNICIPALIMS, dated February 25th, 1933, by
George R. Cadan, President, requesting this pity not to support the
proposal of Mr. Roland Vandegrift, Director of the State Department of
Finance, to divert $8,779,750.00 from the uasoline 'Tax Fund of the State
to the General Fund. This Council having previously adopted a resolution
respecting the matter, the communication was ordered filed.
LOS AP GELES COMMY LEA' UE OF MJNIC IP.^-,.LITIES, by F. A. Baughn,
Executive Secretary, dated February 25th, 1933, advising of said League's
opposition to the position of the two automobile clubs of the State of
ualifornia regarding proposed legislation now apXKKz:t before the State
Legislature respecting gasoline tax revenues; indicating that said League
is in full accord with and is supporting the proposal of the League of
California Municipalities to allocate a portion of gasoline tax revenues
directly to the cities, and recommending that appropriate resolutions
respecting the matter be addressed to the automobile clubs and to the
Legislators from this district. This Council having previously taken
action in accord with the recommendations of said League, the communication
was ordered filed.
CENTRAL GARAGE, HA ?;THORNE, CALIFORNIA, dated February 14th, 19331
advising that it has for sale one Elgin Street Sweeper, and offering to
demonstrate the same if this city is interested. Ordered filed.
M. N. ANGOOD, dated February 18th, 1933, tendering his service
to the City of E1 Segundo as dog license collector. Ordered filed.
ALFRED BROOKS FRY, mayor of the City of Coronado, California,
dated February 15th, 1933, urging the cooperation of this City in con-
' tacting the Assemblyman and Senator from this district in support of
Assembly Bill No. 1563; which has for its purpose the levying'of a
special gasoline tax on all gasoline sold within the State of California
for marine use, except'thd fuel used by licensed fishing vessels; the
purpose of the tax beirig to establish a fund for the construction and
maintenance of motor boat and yacht channels and harbors within the State
of California. This communication was taken under advisement.
ORAL COaMMICGTIONS.
Mr. G. W. Daniel, on behalf of himself and Sherman Strife, addressed
the Council relative to the rate of pay these gentlemen would receive for
the work they have performed in connection with repairs to the steel roof
of the elevated water tank of the City of E1 Segundo. Following discussion
of the matter, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman
Gerow, that in view of'the mechanical skill required to repair the roof of
the elevated water tank of the city of El Segundo, by the installation of
new sheets of steel and the hazards of said occupation, that the persons
employed to do this work, to -wit: G. W. Daniel and Sherman Strife, be com-
pensated at the rate of $1.00 per hour each for such time as said persons
were actually engaged in the performance of said work. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Yayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
The City Attorney reported that in the prosecution of the Arizona
Drive condemnation proceeding, it would be necessary to have a bound'ery
line description of each of the parcels of land which it is necessary for the
City to acquire, and that in this connection Security Title Insurance and
Guarantee'Company will write and furnish these descriptions for a charge of
$2.50 per parcel; that if such descriptions are furnished by said 'Title
company, the accuracy thereof will then be guaranteed, while if such
descriptions are prepared by the Engineering Department of the City of
E1 Segundo, the responsibility for their accuracy will be upon the City.

It appearing, after consideration of the matter, that the cost to the city
of E1 Segundo if its Engineering Department prepares such descriptions,
would approximate the charge which would be made by the Title Company, it
was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman krimmel, that the
City Attorney be and he is hereby directed to authorize Security Title
Insurance and Guarantee Company to furnish the necessary descriptions at
the price per parcel stated by him, to -wit: $2.50. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.

superintendent of E1 Segundo Water Department be and he is hereby authorized
and instructed to cause the elevated water tank of the City of E1 Segundo
to be painted, that the persons employed to do this work be compensated
therefor at the rate of 700 per hour for such time as they are actually
employed in the doing of said work, that if men qualified to do this work are
at present employed by the City of E1 Segundo, that such men be used on this
job, the total cost of such work not to exceed the sum of $100.00. Carried
by the following vote:
