January 18th, 1933.
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at-7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City-Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder,
Mayor. -
ROLL- CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimme1, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: Love.
READING B[F MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The-minutes of-the regular meeting held on the 11th day of January,
1933, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be -
approved as read. 'Carried.
WRITTEN COMM MCATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
HOLLIS R. THOMPSON, Chairman, Gasoline Tax Committee, League of
California Municipalities, dated January 11th, 1933, enclosing a
synopsis of a definite agreement between the League of California
Municipalities and the State Supervisors Association respecting
legislation, which will have for its object a redistribution of gasoline
tax revenues now allocated to the state and counties only, so that a
portion thereof will be returned directly to the cities of the state.
There accompanied this communication a proposed form of resolution,
authorizing the employment of the League of California Municipalities to
acquire necessary information and data that may be used by the City of
E1 Segundo in obtaining the proper allocation of the gasoline tax now
being paid to the State of California and to the counties. Following
the reading of said communication and of said resolution and consideration
of the subject matters thereof, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded
by Councilman Krimmel, that the following resolution be adopted:
HE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, as follows:
WHEREAS, it is desirous for the cities of California
to endeavor to obtain a certain portion of the gasoline
tax funds now being received by the State and Counties; and
WHEREAS, the League of California Municipalities is
equipped to furnish the necessary assistance in acquiring
the information and data necessary to make such a division
to the cities;
NOW THEREFORE, EE IT RESOLVED, that the sum of $25.00
be paid to the League of California Municipalities for the
purpose of acquiring necessary information and data that can
be used by the City of E1 Segundo in obtaining the proper
allocation of the gasoline tax now being paid to the State
of California and to the counties.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilman Love,
HONORABLE J. W. MCKMEY, donator, 38th Senatoria4 District,
dated January 12th, 1933, acknowledging and expressing agreement with
the Council's attitude respecting gasoline tax revenues, as indicated

in its telegram sent to the said Senator January 12th. Ordered filed.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY LEAGUE,OF UUNIC IPALITIES, dated January 14th,
1933, being a resume' of the pusiness transacted at the meeting of said
League held at Pasadena, California, January 12th, 1933, and advising
that the next meeting will be held at San Gabriel, February 9th, 1933.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND_SPECIAL CORMITrEES.
The City Attorney repotted that pursuant to resolution of the City
Council, he and the City Engineer had placed an order with Security Title
Insurance and Guarantee Company for a condemnation report in connection
with the proposed new alignment of Sepulveda Boulevard and that in his
opinion the report should be delivered.on or about February 1st, 1933.
The City Engineer reported that he had delivered a copy of the . .
map
showing boundary lines of the proposed new alignment of Sepulveda Boulevard
and the descriptions of the properties to be acquired in connection there-
with to the Security Title Insurance and Guarantee Company and that Mr.
Statia of said Company had advised him.that they were at that time
working on the condemnation report and would complete the same as rapidly.
as possible.
The City Engineer reported also that he had learned from the Los
Angeles office of the Division of Highways of the State of California
that the proposed new alignment of Sepulveda Boulevard had been approved
by the Highway Department at Sacramento.
The City Attorney, reporting concerning a bankruptcy proceeding
referred to him at the last meeting of the Council, advised that he is
having Attorney George Lawrence of his office prepare briefs in the
matter and that he will make a further report to the Council at a later
date.
The City Clerk reported that he had learned that the insurance
company, through which the city had procured indemnity against property
damage and public liability loss, is in the hands of a receiver, and by
general consent the City Attorney was directed to investigate and report
to this Council.

NEW BUSIlIESS.
Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the City
Engineer be and he is hereby authorized to employ one rod man and one chain man, to
perform such additional engineering work as is required in the proposed
new alignment of Sepulveda Boulevard within the City of El Segundo; that such persons
be employed at the discretion and convenience of the City Engineer and that the said
rod man so employed be compensated at the rate of 75V per hour and that the said
chain man so employed be compensated at the rate of 62¢ per hour. Carried by the
following vote:
Ayes Councilman Gerow, Krimmel, Selby and Layor Binder,
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilman Love.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved
by councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
