1al Segundo, California. August 23rd, 1933. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of 81 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by the City Clerk,, Mayor Binder being absent. Councilman Gerow was unanimously chosen Mayor pro -tam and he immediately assumed the duties of the Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel and Love. Councilmen Absent: Binder and Selby. READING OF E21UTW OF PREVIOUS M MTING* The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 16th day of August, 1933, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman.Brimmel, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN CONMUNICATIONS. The following conmunications were read and disposed of as indicated: LEA= OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES, dated August 10th, 1933, transmitting its Bulletin No. 23 respecting application for loans to cities under the Public Works Administration program. Ordered filed. CALIFORNIA MUNICIPAL UTILITIES ASSOCIATION, dated August 15th, 19331, containing information respecting the last session of the Legislature, the Retail Sales Tax Act, and advising of the annual convention to be held at Santa Cruz during the month of September. Ordered filed. None. None. ORAL. COUNUNICATIONS. REPORTS OF STLNDING COidiITTBFS. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COWITtEE`3. The City Clerk announced that City Judge Don Co Fugitt had requested permission to take his vacation, beginning September 11th, 1933. Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that ldtoximmmi Don C. Fugitt, City Judge, be and he is hereby granted his customary annual two weeks vacation, beginning September 11th, 1933; it being understood that arrangements have been made with Sam G. Austin, Justice of the Peace of Redondo Township, to substitute for Judge Fugitt if and when necessary during said vacation period, and that said substitute shall be compensated in the sum of not to exceed $10.00 for each actual and necessary court session held by him for the City of El Segundo during said time Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel and Love. Noes: Councilmen None, Absent: Councilmen Binder and Selby. Assistant City Engineer R. F. Ward reported that he had this date delivered to Mr. Hanique of the Bureau of County Welfare, all of the documents essential to the obtaining of welfare aid for certain improvements in Center btreet between Pine Avenue and 300 feet Northerly thereof; that Mr, Hanique stated that the forms as presented were in better shape than any he had previously received and that he would recommend approval of the project.
