A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City hall of said City, by Peter E. 31nder,
Mayor.

Councilmen Absent: None.
RE,`,DING 14MTES OF P R- ,:VIOUS LEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 2nd dad* of August, 1933,
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman
Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the minutes be approved as read.
Carried.
WRITTEN COUITNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
CITY OF It:UZ iATTAN �CrI, dated August 5th, 1933, being a copy of a
letter forwarded to the board of Supervisors of Los i*Ingeles County by said
City, in support of this City's application for County aid in the matter
of the improvement of a ortion of the Coast Highway. Ordered filed.
jERI,ARD BRIMNL1, City attorney, City of Glendale, dated August 8th,
1933, inviting representatives of this pity to attend a meeting to be held
at 1�o. 111 worth Howard Street, Jlendale, on Wednesday, August 16th, at 9:30
A. Mo , for the purpose of discussing the advisability of Los Angeles County
cities taking united action at the telephone rate hearing before the
Railroad Commission, September 6th, 1933, and enclosing copy of a resolution
respecting said matter adopted by said Glendale City Council, August 3rd,
1933. Ordered filed.
MRS. TT.T.A HALF., requesting that her name be removed from that
certain petition heretofore filed with this Council respecting the amending
or repeal of Ordinance No. 165. Ordered filed.
EDITH C. SP:= and 33 others, dated dugust 6th, 1933, being a
petition opposing any change in the existing handbill ordinance of the City
of E1 Segundo. Ordered filed.
J. E. REDDINGTOII, President, Ll Segundo k%hamber of Commerce, dated
August 9th, 1933, enclosing petitions signed by 1,:agdalen Lake and 38 others,
protesting a repeal of E1 Segundo dodger ordinance, and suggesting that if
action is deferred another week, additional names may be procured on the
petition. Ordered filed.
ORAL COIrXNICATIONS.
G..Blair addressed the Council relative to the disposal of
stray cats, which appear to be a nuisance.i,n the neighborhood of his residence,
and the matter was referred to the Chief of Police for attention.
Marco Zivalic addressed the Council relative to the employment of
his brother in place of himself in the Street Department, stating that it
was his intention to seek residence and employment elsewhere. In the discussion
which followed, it appeared that the permanency of his employment and the
definiteness of his re.mval from this City is uncertain, therefore action re-
specting the matter was not taken at this time.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COL2UTPEES.
The City Clerk reported that Lr. George LcLauchlin requested permissio
cut the sidewalk and curb in front of his premises No. 417 East Franklin .
for the purpose of constructing a driveway into said premises. Moved by
Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that George McLauchlin be s
is hereby granted permission to cut the sidewalk and curb in front of his
premises, No. 417 East Franklin iivenue, for the purpose of constructing a c
way into said premises, provided, upon examination, such proposed work is
approved by the Street Superintendent and provided further, that the
construction of said driveway is prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction
of the Street Superintendent of the pity of El Segundo. Carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: - Councilmen Gerow, Krimme1, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.
The City Clerk reported that Lars. L. D. Hayes had advised him that her
daughter Evelyn, 13, had been injured by a fall in the casting pool at the Grand
Avenue Park and that she felt the City should pay the doctor bill resulting
from the injury. By general consent the matter was taken under advisement and
the Chief of Police was directed to make an investigation and report to this
Council at its next meeting.
The City Treasurer reported that in order to pay interest and principal
coupons on various special assessment district bonds of the City of E1 Segundo
fallinC due at this time, it will be necessary to transfer from the General
Fund to various Street improvement District Bond Interest and Redemption Funds
the sum of $6337.11. Following discussion of the matter, it was moved by
Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimr„el, that if and when the amount
is available in the general fund of the City of F•1 Segundo, the City Clerk and
the City Treasurer of said amity are hereby authorized and directed to transfer
from the General l'und of said City to the respective Street Improvement
District Bond Interest and Redemption Funds hereinafter named, the amounts
set opposite the names of said respective funds, as follows, to -wit:

The City Clerk reported that the property damage and public liability
insurance on certain of the motor vehicles of the amity of E1 Segundo will
expire this month and he made inquiry as to the renewal of the coverage.
It was thereupon moved by Councilman Love,'seconded by Gouacilman Selby, that
the City Clerk be and'he is hereby authorized to procure property damsee and
public liability coverage on the motor vehicles owned and used by the City of
E1 Segundo and upon the privately owned motor vehicles of municipal employees
who actually use such vehicles in the performance of their official duties,
all as hern-tofore insured, such insurance to be evidenced by cover notes of
the Mechanics Insurance Company and the Commercial Casualty Company, for a
period of not to exceed thirty days. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Layor. Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.

The Uity Attorney, reporting in connection with the Sepulveda boulevard
proceedings, stated that the consulting bond attorneys had advised him that
it would not be necessary to amend the ordinance respecting the maturities
of the bonds proposed to be sold; also that in the advertising for bids for
the work,of improving Arizona Drive and in the preparation of the contract
which may be entered into for such work, consideration will have to be given
to the recently adopted State Industrial Recovery Acts; also that his
schedule for the advertisement for bids on the doing of the work contemplates
publications august 17th, 24th and 31st and the reception of bids on September
6th; the date of the reception of bids for the sale of bonds being fixed for
September 13th, 1933.
