1932 OCT 11 CC MINEl Segundo, California, October 11th, 1932, An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P, M, on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of avid City, by Peter Be Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absents Love. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 5th day of October, 1932, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COM!$JNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES, dated October 3rd, 1932, being its Bulletin No. 34, advising that at the Thirty- Fourth Annual Convention of said League, there was adopted a resolution in opposition to Propostion No. 11, which will appear on the ballot to be used at the November, 1932, General Election, and urging defeat of said proposition by the people of the State of California. Ordered filed. CITY COUNCIL, City of Torrance, dated October 8th, 1932, inviting city officials to attend a meeting of the Los Angeles County League of Municipalities, to be held at said City, Thursday, October 13th, 1932. It was announced that Mayor Binder and City Clerk McCarthy would be the only officials who would attend. None. None. ORAL COMW NICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES. Councilman Selby, reporting relative to his study of a resolution adopted by the City Council of the City of El Segundo, at its regular meeting held June 29th, 1932, opposing the diversion of state highway funds as recommended in Resolution No. 1189 C.M.S. of the City of Oakland, which action on the part of this Council was objected to by Roland A. Vandegrift, Director of Finance of the State of California and which objection was answered by C. ,Stanley wood, City Attorney of . the City of Oakland, 1,n; k%ia conmmunication dated September 23rd,'1932, stated that in his opinion further action on the - part of -this Council would only involve it in what seemed to him to be a difference of opinion between the Oakland City Council and the Director of State Finance, and it was his recommendation that the resolution heretofore adopted by this Council as hereinbefore referred to, be permitted to stand and that no further action be taken. This report appearing to coincide with the opinion of the members present, it was decided by general consent that the subject would be considered a closed issue. Mayor Binder reported that a request had been made of him to bring to the attention of the Council the application of E1 Segundo Roman's Club 62 L, to use the City Hall Auditorium six evenings for the purpose of practicing a one-act opera to be given for public approval sometime in the future, the proceeds of which entertainment will be used partially for the Students' Aid Fund of the P. T. A. Considering the philanthropic object of the applicants, it was moved by Councilman xrimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that El Segundo Woman's Club be permitted to use the City Hall Auditorium six nights, for the purpose of practicing an opera, provided that a charge of $1900 to defray the cost of illumination of said auditorium be charged for each of said nights and provided further that arrangements be made with the City Clerk respecting the nights which are available for the purpose indicated herein. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilman 66row, Hrimmel, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None, Absent: Councilman Love. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the meeting adjourn until Monday, the 17th day of October, 1932, at the hour of 4:45 o'clock P.
