October 5th, 1932.
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. No on the above date,
in the council Chamber of the City Hall,of said City, by Peter N. Binder,
Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: grimmel and Love.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 28th day of September,
1932, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular.meeting held on the 3rd day
of October, 1932, were read, without error or omission being noted, and
were approved as read upon motion of Councilman Selby, seconded by
Councilman Gerow, which carried.
WRITTZN COM11UNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
J. L. POMEROY9 N. D., County. Health Officer, by Ht Co Smiley, N. D.,
District Health Officer, being a report of the activities of the Department
of health of Los Angeles County within the City of El Segundo, during the
mouth of August, 1932, as Health Officer of said City. Ordered filed.
SPECIAL OREER OF BUSINESS.
All bids received September 28th, 1932, for furnishing the City of
El Segundo with one Light 8 Cylinder Tudor V Type Sedan Automobile and
one 2 Cylinder Police Motorcycle, having on said date been taken under
advisement until the hour of 7 :16 o'clock P. M. at this date, and said
hour having arrived, the mayor announced the arrival of said hour and
that the Council would proceed with the consideration of the bids received
as aforesaid.
By general consent it was decided to first ooAsider bids received
for furnishing the City of 11 Segundo with one 2 Cylinder Police Motorcycle
and for the sale or trade in upon the pnlchase price of said new 2 cylinder
motorcycle of one used Harley- Davidson motorcycle now in use of the Police
Department of the City-of 31 Segundo. The Clerk thereupon read each of
the bids received by the City Council, September 28th, 1932, submitted
by the following named bidders, to -wit: Rich Budelier, P. A. Murphy,
Indian Motorcycle Sales Company,
consideration was given.to the said bids, after which it was moved.
by.Counoilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that Resolution No.
263, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THIS CITY OF
EL SFGUM, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING TO RICH B'UDELINR
OF LOS ANGELffi, THE CONTRACT FOR FQRRIISHING SAID
CITY WITH ONE CERTAIN HARLBY- DAVIDSON NDTORCYCLE,
FOR THE USE OF THE POLICE DEPARMM OF SAID CITY,
which was read, be adopted. The motion to adopt said resolution was carried

by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and Mayor Binder,
Noes: Councilmen None,
Absent: Councilmen Krimmel and Love.
The Council then proceeded to consider the bid of Ira E. Escobar,
received September 28th, 1932, for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo
with one light 8 cylinder Tudor Type V Sedan Automobile and for.the
purchase of or trade -in upon the pmtobase price of the new automobile
bid upon of one used Dodge touring car owned by the City of E1 Segundo
and at present in the service of the Police Department of said City.
Said bid, the only bid received for the items mentioned, appearing to be
regular and satisfactory-in all respects, it was moved by Councilman
Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that Resolution No. 264, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING TO IRA E. ESCOBAR,
OF EL SEGUNDO, THE CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING SAID CITY
WITS ONE CERTAIN FORD AUTONDBILE FOR THE USE OF TEE
POLICE DLPAMWNT OF SAID CITY,
which was read, be adopted. The motion to adopt the foregoing resolution
was carried by the following vote, to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen Krimmel and Love.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS.
Messrs. E. C. Montgomery, 0. W. Foster and James Fouts each addressed
the Council relative to employment by the City of El Segundo, and was
advised that Assistant City 'Engineer ward would be able to inform the
inquirers as to the Council's decision respecting his application.
Mr, Frank Snow addressed the Council relative to printing certain
maps proposed to be printed by the City of �:l Segundo, his offer being taken
under consideration.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMIT EES.
the City Clerk announced that kr. Carl Johnson had requested the
installation of a street light in Oak Avenue between Main Street and
Virginia Street, upon a light pole approximately in front of 219 West Oak
Avenue. The Council agreed to investigate the matter and take action thereon
at a later date.
The City Clerk drew attention to the fact that municipally owned
Ford Truck No. 14044759 had been found to be so worn out as to be useless for
further service, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by
Councilman Gerow, that the following resolution be adopted:
ARE S, Ford '1'ruck, Engine No. 14044759, purchased by
the City of El Segundo, December 15th, 1986, has been in the
continuous service of said City since-said date; and
iHEREAS, it appeari-that* its mechanical aondition.is
such that it is no longer practical or economical to operate
the same and that the said truck has no further value;
NOW TEE MMRE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said Ford truck be
taken out of municipal service and junked; that the Motor
Vehicle Division of the State of California be advised of this
action; that all other requirements of law respecting the
junking of automobile motors be complied with by the Street
Superintendent of the City of El Segundo.

the foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote:

UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
In connection with the Council's consideration of the matter of
installing lights adjacent to the baseball grounds at the Southeast corner
of .61 Segundo High School campus, the Clerk read a letter from the Trustees
of 2;1 Segundo High School received this date, granting permission to said
city to erect and maintain the proposed poles and lights and setting forth
other conditions upon which said poles and lights may be installed and
maintained. Said conditions appearing to be satisfactory, the same were
accepted by general consent and the Council thereupon proceeded to consider
the bids of the Zlectric Shop and J. L. brewer received this date, for
furnishing all of the labor and materials necessary for installing a
lighting system adjacent to the baseball grounds at the Southeast corner
of the tsl Segundo High School campus.
It appbaring that the bid of the hlectric Shop was the lower of the
two bids received, it was moved by councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman
Selby, that the Zlectric Shop be and it is hereby awarded the work of
furnishing all labor and materials necessary to construct a lighting system
adjacent to the baseball grounds at the Southeast corner of El Segundo
High School campus at the price named in its bid, to- wit:'the sum of
4195.00; all of said work to be constructed promptly and in a good and
workmanlike manner and in accordance with ordinances of the Uity of F1 Segundo
respecting electrical installation, and that in addition thereto, said
.k�jectric Shop be allowed an additional 410.00 for the transportation of
poles to be used in connection with said lighting installation,
from San Pedro to Hl Segundo. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen Hone.
Absent: Councilmen Krimmel and Love.
moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman uerow, that the
Bum of V100.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated for the printing of
maps of the City of B1 Segundo and for the purchase of such cuts as may
be necessary to complete the job of printing in a manner satisfactory to
this Council. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen Krimmbe1 and Love.
