A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter B. Binder,

Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absents Love.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 26th day of October,
1932, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Council-
man Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as
read. Carried.
��RITTEN COM6aJNICATIONS.
IR= MANDAVILLE, dated November 2nd, 1932, making application for
the position of Secretary in the Hater Department of the City of E1 Segundo
in event of a vacancy in the future. Ordered filed.
O'MELVENY, TULLER & MYERS, dated November 1st, 1932, their File No.
B 1523, advising that's. revision of-maturities of the bonds of Act of
1927 Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the City of E1 Segundo is
necessary by reason of the wording of the Act under which said bonds are
issued, and that therefore, it will be necessary to adopt an ordinance
amending Ordinance No. 181 of the City of E1 Segundo.
After consideration, Councilmen Krimmel introduced Ordinance No. 186,
entitled:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE N0. .181
OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE
PRESCRIBING THE FORM OF THE BONDS AND COUPONS AND
PROVIDING FOR TEE ISSUANCE OF $146,816.00 BONDS OF ACT
OF 1927 MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 1 OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, AUTRORIZED BY THE VOTERS OF SAID
DISTRICT AT A SPECIAL. ELECTION FIELD OCTOB1ER 29, 1931,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING A PART OF THE COSTS AND EX-
PENSES OF ACQUIRING LANDS, RIsHTS OF WAY AND EASMENTS
NECESSARY IN ORDER TaJIlIJ AND EXi'ND THAT CERTAIN
PUBLIC STREET COMMONLY KNO1N AS ARIZONA DRIVE BETWEEN
COLLINGWOOD AVENUE (ALSO KNOR'N AS IMPERIAL HIGHWAY)

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS.
Mr, Rudy Raber addressed the Council relative to the employment of
his son and was advised by the Mayor that while the Council could not offer
much hope for his employment, the matter would be given consideration.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
Mayor Binder reported having attended a meeting of E1 Segundo Play -
Ground baseball League, at which meeting the use of the High School
baseball grounds and use of the lights recently installed by the City were
discussed; that at said meeting it was estimated that lighting of the
grounds will cost approximately 50¢ per hour; that the League agreed to
compensate a grounds' keeper at the rate of 500 per night for such nights
as the grounds are in use, and that it was determined that persons or
teams desiring to use the grounds and the lights on nights other than those
assigned to the use of the League could arrange for the same in the office
of the City Clerk by depositing with said official the estimated cost of -
the lights for the time proposed to be used, plus the fee of the grounds' -
keeper. The Council felt that this arrangement would be satisfactory and
by general consent it was approved.
Councilman Binder reported also having attended a recent Mothers'-
Educational clinic held at-the American Legion Club House under the
auspices of the American Legion Auxiliary; that four doctors were in
attendance, that the clinic was methodically conducted in a businesslike
manner and that it appeared to be a wonderful institution.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
The Chief of Police reported that on Tuesday, November 1st, 1932, at
about 6:45 A. L`:., Motorcycle Officer DeBerry was injured as a result of a
collision between the city-motorcycle he was riding and a Ford coupe•
operated by Olarence D. Thi =; -that officer DsBerry suffered a broken
collarbone; was given necessary surgical attention. The Chief felt that
the damage to the motorcycle was nominal and that repairs could be made
in the municipal garage; whereupon it was moved by Councilman Krimmel,
seconded by Councilman Selby, that the Chief of Police be and he is hereby
authorized to cause the motorcycle of-the City of E1 Segundo, damaged in an
accident which occurred November lst, 1932, to be repaired at a cost not to
exceed $35.00. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Brimnel, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None,
Absent: Councilman -Love.
The Chief of Police reported also an injury to Wm. H. Gross, caused
by the cave -in of a bank adjacent to Arizona Drive and E1 Segundo Avenue;
that in his opinion the injury was slight and was being called to the
(;ouncil'e attention by reason of the fact that it is the second injury
suffered by the same employee at the same location.
