California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. 11. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder,

The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 11th day of Ylay,
1932, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
6ouncilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.

The following cormunications were read and disposed of as indicated:
LOG;, R. COTTON, Accountant and Au:_itor, Hated May 18th, 1932, being
a report of his quarterly examination of the accounts and records of the
various offices and departments of the City of El Segundo for the quarter
ending :'arch 31st, 1932. Ordered filed.
P. DIEDERICH, dated Lay 14th, 1932, urging interest of the Council
in the 1932 Institute of Government, which will convene at the University
of Southern California, June 13th'to 17th, incl. 1932, calling particular
attention to a folder descriptive of the Water Supply and Enginecring
Section. Ordered filed.
01-RUZ COIL I`TICATIONS.
Mr. Joseph Lowery, Deputy County Auditor, addressed the Council
relative to the Institute of Government, which will meet at the University
of Southern California, June 13th to 17th, 1932; ex_)laining its aims and
objects, going into detail as to the educators whose services have been
obtained to lead the various sections of the Institute.
REPORTS OF STL,NDING C011MITl'Er1S.
Councilman Gerow, Chairman of the Public Works Committee, reported
that he and Councilman Jelby had made an inspection of the streets _)f the
City on Saturday, May 14th, and they recommended the improvement of the
railroad crossing at imperial Highway and Inglewood - Redondo Road, as well
as the approach thereto; also a reduction in the grade and the removal of
certain earth banks at E1 Segundo Avenue and Arizona Drive. By general
consent the pity Engineer was instructed to prepare estimates in connection
with these suggested imarovements.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL, CO'112.1 'E S. '
The City Attorney presented to the Council a form of agreement for
Inactive Deposit of City Funds, between Pdinta Curtzwil:er, Treasurer of the
City of El Segundo and Security -First National Bank of Los Angeles,
Inglewood Branch, respecting the deposit of 440,000.00, it being necessary
to have the Council's approval of the deposit of such funds. By general
consent the matter was taken under advisement until the next regular meeting
of the Council.

UNFINISHED BUS INESS.
The Clerk presented for the.further consideration of the Council, a form
of agreement between the County of Los Angeles and the City of E1 Segundo,
heretofore submitted by J. L. Pomeroy, Los &ngeles County Health Officer,,
for the performance of the functions of Health Officer in and for said
City b7 the said County. After consideration of the same, and the correction
of the first paragraph on Page.2 of said contract to make the same conform
with the terms of the previous contract had with said County respecting the
same services, it was moved b7 "onncilmen Krimmel, seconded by Councilman,
Love, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that the y:ayor of the 6ity.of L1 Segundo, be and he
is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of said City, as of the
1st day of July, 1932, an agreement between the City of ;l Segundo,
and the county of Los Angeles,for the performance of all of the
functions relating to public health within the City of E1 Segundo,
for the period of one year beginning on.said first day of July, 1932,
by the Health Department of said County, at the contract price of
$1200.00 per year, payable in semi - annual installments of $600.00
each, said agreement to be substantially in the same form as the
contract heretofore had with said county for the year 1931 -1932, the
form of said agreement to be subject to-the approval of the City
Attorney of the Uity of E1 Segundo;
AND BE IT FORTHMR ?SOLVED, that the City Clerk of said City be
and he is hereby authorized and instructed to attest said agreement
and affix the City seal thereto.

the city Engineer then presented to the Council the Assessment Diagram
for the improvement of a portion of Imperial highway, under resolution of
Intention iVo. 243, said diagram being numbered 1yI 320520. after examination
of said diagram, it was moved by CounciL-man Selby, seconded by Councilman
Krimmel, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that Assessment Diagram for the improvement of
Imperial Highway, under Resolution of Intention No. 243
of the City of E1 Segundo, California, said diagram being
numbered M 320520, is satisfactory to this Council in all
particulars, and the same is hereby approved by this Council,
and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to endorse
the approval of this Council upon said Assessment Diagram.

Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Miayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen :lone.
Loved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the
City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and
directed to write the United States Senator from this District at
Washington, D. C., urging him to use all means possible to reduce the
administrative expenses of the Federal Government. Carried by the
following vote:

Noes: Councilmen None.
