A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California,
was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. MI. on the above date, in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder. -
Councilmen Absent: None.
READING OF liINUTE.3 OF PREVIOUS :ZETIiiG.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 27th day of April, 1932,
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman
Selb7*, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that'the minutes be approved as read.
Carried.
WRI= COM12JNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
COU.11= Or LOS ANGM.FM, HEALTH DEPARTMENT, dated April 29th, 1932,
being a report of the activities of said Department within the City of
E1 Segundo during the month of March, 1932. Ordered filed.
PAUL E. WALKER, et al, Appralsers in the matter of the Sepulveda
Boulevard Acquisition, dated April 27th, 1932, amending one item of its
prior report filed with this Council. Ordered filed.
ORAL CO1.1 UNICATIONS.
None.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COMdITTILZ.
The Water Superintendent reported having conferred with Nor. George
Johnson respecting the laying of a water line along Duey Road, Southerly
from Mariposa Avenue; that Mr. Johnson indicated he would be pleased'to
have this service installed and that he would become a patron of El
Seguzido Water Department when water'is thus made available to his premises.
It appearing that no other consumer would be supplied from said line'at the
present time, by reason of which the installation would be unprofitable,
action in the matter was deferred until a later date.
The Street Superintendent reported having consulted the Superintendent
of the Southern California Edison Company respecting the discontinuance of
one -half of the ornamental street lights at present in use within the City
of E1 Segundo and that said official advised that this economy could be
accomplished conveniently. It was therefore moved by Councilman Krimmel,
seconded by Councilman Love, that Southern California Edison Company'be
instructed to discontinue the Sunset to Midnight circuit on all of the
ornamental street lights on Grand Avenue, Main Street and Richmond Street
within the City of E1 Segundo and to operate only the Sunset to Sunrise
Circuit in.eonnection with each of these lighting systems. Carried.
IT BUS EMS .
The Council having heretofore on the 27th day of April, 1932,
received bids for the sale of garbage collected by the City of E1 Segundo,
and said bids having at said time been taken under consideration until
this meeting, the relatlive merits of said bids having been considered,
it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that'the
following resolution be adopted:

RESOLVED, that all of the bids received, pursuant to
notice therefore published according to law, for the sale of
garbage collected by the City of L1 Segundo, be and the same
are hereby rejected, with the exception of the bid of George
Kitahata; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the contract for the sale of
garbage collected by the City of El Segundo be awarded to the
said George Kitahata, at the price named in his said bid, to-
wit: 5 cents per cubic yard for the first year; 10 cents per
cubic yard for the second year and 10 cents per cubic yard for
the third year; and
BE IT FURTHER REESOLVED, that the City Attorney of the City
of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pre-
pare a suitable contract between the City of E1 Segundo and the
said George Kitahata respecting the sale of said garbage.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krirmel, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.

BUSINBSS .
The Street Superintendent advised that the time limit for the oompletion
of the contract heretofore awarded L. A: Paving Compeny,for the improvement
of Imperial Highway within the City of B1 Segundo and the City of Los ingeles,
will expire on May 8th, 1932,-and he recommended an extension of time for the
completion of the contract. It Was thereupon moved by Councilman Gerow,
seconded by Councilman Love, that the L: A. Paving Company be and it is hereby
granted fourteen days extension of time-in which to complete the work con-
templated under its contract with the City of N1 Segundo for the improvement
of Imperial Highway within the said Cities. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krilcmlel,-Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it -was
moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the meeting
adjourn. Carried.
