March 16th, 1932.
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by George Love,
Mayor.
The City Clerk being absent, Councilman Krimmel was unanimously
chosen Dlerk pro -tem.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Binder, Krimmml and Mayor Love,
Councilmen Absent: Gerow and Selby.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 9th day of March, 1932,
were read, without error or omission being noted, and were approved as
read upon motion of Councilman Krimnel, seconded by Councilman Binder,
which carried unanimously.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
R. C. MASON and PAUL E. WA11MR, dated March 11th, 1932, advising that
Mr. Tom Mason of Wilmington, California, had been chosen as the third
member of the Board of Appraisers in connection with the opening and
widening of Arizona Drive, within the City of E1 Segundo; and stating also
that the latter Mr. Mason a= is not related in any manner to Mr. R. C.
Mason. Ordered filed.
J. W. BREEEMVE CORP., dated March 15th, 1932, advising that said
Corporation is fully equipped to remove excess vegetation, which creates
a serious fire hazard, and requesting consideration if the City desires
to have this work done.
By general consent, the City Clerk was instructed to write the J. W.
Breedlove'Corporation, advising that as part of its Unemployment Relief
Program, the City will take care of this work Itself.
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY, dated March 9th, 1932, requesting
permission to replace and move eight poles on Sheldon Avenue, between
Imperial Highway and iwaple Avenue. Said communication was accompanied by
sketch showing the proposed work. The application having been approved
by the Street Superintendent, it was moved by Councilman Krimmmel, seconded
by Councilman Binder, that Southern California Edison Company be and it
is hereby granted permission to replace and move eight poles on Sheldon
Street, between Imperial Highway and Maple Avenue, as per tts application
therefor,,provided all of said work is prosecuted and completed to the
satisfaction-of the Street Superintendent. p:C ,the' City of E1 Segundo.. Carried.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMLEnTEE.S.
Councilman Krimmnel advis6d that the Santa Fe Crossing at El Segundo
Blvd. and Inglewood - Redondo Road is badly in need of repair, and the
Street Superintendent'stated that'he would get in touch with the'Sahte Fe
Railway Company regarding same.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COIK TEES.
The City Engineer reported, that pursuant to previous instruction of
the Council, he had made an investigation of the condition of the motor
used in connection with the air compressor in the basement of the City Hall,
and that it was thought same could be repaired at very little expense.
Thereupon, by general consent, the City Engineer was instructed to have
said motor put in proper working order.

Moved by Councilman Kri 1, seconded by Councilman Binder, that
the following resolution be adopted:`
WHEREAS, this Council is desirous of ascertaining the
possible value of properties to be acquired in the proposed
opening and widening of Arizona Drive, as contemplated in the
matter of "Act of 1927 Municipal Improvement District No. 1
of the City of E1 Segundo, California;" and
WHEREAS, this Council feels, after consultation of its
representatives with various property owners interested, that
a possible agreement could be reached with the respective owners
of property and persons interested in property to be acquired,
in the event that an appraisement made by appraisers mutually
satisfactory to such parties and to the City could be had; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tom Mason is a person, in the opinion of this
Council, well qualified to make an appraisement and render a
report respecting the values of such properties so to be acquired;
NOW THEREFORE, EE IT RESOLVED, that Tom Mason be and he is
hereby employed for the purpose of inspecting such properties and
appraising same and submitting to this Council his report and
appraisement in writing respecting the values of the respective
properties to be acquired in the matter of said "Act of 1927'
municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the City of E1 Segundo,
California;" and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the compensation of said
Tom Mason for his said services shall be at the rate of $25.00
per day for not to exceed eight days in the inspection of such
properties and the'preparation and submission of such report or
appraisement.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Krimmel and Mayor Love.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen Gerow and Selby.
The City Attorney read to the Council a letter received from the
Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company, in which said Company advised
of its willingness to grant to the City of E1 Segundo an easement for
grade crossing at Imperial Highway and Inglewood- Redondo Road, certain
conditions contingent thereto being set forth in said letter. The conditions
as set forth in said letter not being in accordance with previous understanding
of the Council, the City Engineer was instructed to take the matter up with
the Engineering Department of the said Railroad Company, and to report to
this Council at its next meeting.
