1932 JUN 22 CC MIN�( 297 El Segundo, California. June 22nd, 1932. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was celled to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by the City Clerk, the Mayor being absent. Councilman Selby was unanimously chosen Mayor pro tern and he immediately assumed the duties of the Mayor. ROLL CAIL, Councilmen Present: Gerow, Love and Selby. Councilmen Absent: Binder and Brimmel. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS NOTING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 15th day of June, 1932, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: SANTA FE LAND IIMPROVEMWT COMPANY, dated June 20th, 1932, bearing their file No. 640 -9 -1, referring to the request of Standard Oil Company of California, for a 161 foot right of way over and across said Company's property adjoining Sepulveda Blvd., for pipe lines and wire lines and inquiring if the City of E1 Segundo or the City Council thereof have any suggestions. The Mayor ordered this communication referred to the City Engineer for investigation and recommendation to the Council. DR. JOHN M. CLARKE, Mayor of the City of Redondo Beach, California, extending an invitation to the members of the City Council to attend the Masonic Club Annual Barbecue and Picnic from twelve o'clock Noon until seven o'clock P. M., Saturday, June 25th, at Redondo Beach. Ordered filed. Rex Thomson, Deputy Supt. of Charities, County of Los Angeles, dated June 17th, 19329 entitled: "Relief Labor Utilized on Street and Road Work ", and setting forth the procedure to be followed by the City of E1 Segundo in event County aid is required to assist unemployment relief. 'Ordered filed. J. F. McCullough, President, El Segundo Chamber of Commerce, dated June 18th, 1932, submitting for consideration of the Council a letter of the Harbor District Chambers of Commerce, dated June 13th, 1932, and requesting recommendation respecting two resolutions of the latter Body, which said resolutions are set forth in their letter hereinbefore referred to and which said resolutions are directed to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, requesting that Body to place upon the ballot for November, 1932, election, propositions to amend the County Charter in two particulars. This file was referred to the City Attorney for an opinion. ' ORAL COIWUNICATIONS. None. None. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL CONE[TTEES. The City Engineer reported that he had turned over to the City Attorney all deeds for use in connection with the acquisition of Sepulveda blvd. property. With further reference to the removal of the temporary 2" water line on Imperial Highway between Arizona Drive and Inglewood- xedondo Road, through which said line the Northrup Corporation and Pickwick- Nitecoach Works are 2ssK. furnished water, the.City Engineer reported conference with Mr. Lapham, of the Santa Fe LaAd Improvement Company, who had stated that his Company would immediately ask for bids for the installation of an 8" cast iron water line, which would take its supply from the City of E1 Segundo 10" water line heretofore installed for that purpose along the center line of Section 7, whereupon the Council,`by general consent, indicated a willingness to await the action of the Santa Fe Land Improvement Company as herein referred to before removing the temporary 2" line on Imperial Highway. The City Clerk drew attention to the fact that there had been no consumption of electrical energy through the meter installed for the traffic direction sign at Main Street and 1:1 Segundo Avenue, and inquired of the Council whether or not it desired to continue this service. Following consideration, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the city Clerk he instructed to notify Southern California Edison Company to remove its meter and service to the traffic direction sign at E1 Segundo Avenue and Awain Street within the city of 1�1 Segundo and that subsequent the to the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized and directed to remoU gign from its present location and to cause the same to be replaced by a traffic direction sign of the type installed by the Southern California Automobile Club. Carried by the following vote: `fires: Councilmen Gerow, Love and Selby. Noes: Councilmen None, Absent: Councilmen Binder and Aximme10 No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the meeting adjourn.
