The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 8th day of June, 1932, were read. WEDLER of manhattan Beach, California, dated June 5th, 1932, expressing, on behalf of the people in amhattan iseach, thanks for the assistance of the city council of the city of m1 Segundo in the improvement of the roadway of rosecrans Avenue. Mr. L. mAnsen addressed the council relative to his early re- employment by the city and was advised by the mayor that the matter would be taken under consideration. The clerk reported that z;1 Segundo community Chest had made application to use the city call Auditorium on the evening of July 18th, 1932, for the purpose of having a general meeting of all cooperative agencies and upon motion of councilman Selby, seconded by councilman Love, which carried unanimously, this permission was granted. she city Clerk reported that the assessment for the improvement of a portion of Imperial highway within the city of Los jLngeles and within the city of 14;1 Segundo had been filed with him this date by the Street Superin- tendent and that Wednesday, July 6th, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P. m. in the council chamber of the city hall of the city of h1 ,egundo is the time fixed for the hearing of appeals respecting the same, which may be filed by persons interested therein. • it waa,•thereupon .suggested: by - �:oUncilran 4-erow . tha% prior to the filing'witli the uounty recorder of Los Angeles County' of 'the .notice of ` uompletion of the work contemplated under resolution of Intention No. 243 for the improvement of a portion of Imperial Highway within the City of E1 Segundo and the City of Los Angeles, that the inspectors employed upon the work be required to file reports respecting the prosecution and com- pletion of the same, and following disnussion, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that Mr. A. R. Gunn, who was employed as inspector by the City of El Segundo during the prosecution of the work of improving a portion of Imperial Highway within the City of E1 Segundo and the City of Los Angeles, and the inspector so employed by American Bitumuls Company, be requested to file with this Council their reports as to the prosecution and completion of said work. Said motion carried unanimously. 294 y UNF1NISEW BUSDZSS. The City Attorney presented to the Council a final draft of escrow instructions in the Sepulveda Boulevard project, prepared by him, which was read and corrected in minor particulars. After correction, the same was reread and it was thereupon moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that escrow instructions respecting the Sepulveda Boulevard project as corrected and read to this Council this date, be and the same are hereby approved as and for the escrow instructions to be used in connection with the said Sepulveda Boulevard project acquisition and that a copy of said instructions be filed with the City Clerk. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder, Noes; Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen Krimmel. Following the adoption of escrow instructions for use in connection with the Sepulveda Boulevard project, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that Subdivision 4 of the instructions to the City Attorney with reference to the proposed Sepulveda Boulevard project, as the same appear on Page K -292 of the minutes of the proceedings of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo is amended so as to read as follows: "4. The amounts to be paid by the City of E1 Segundo for the respective parcels to be acquired by the said City, shall be those shown in the 'VALUE' column of the report of Appraisers Paul Be walker, Tom Mason and R. C. Mason, dated March 29th, 1932, now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo, for the respective parcels of property opposite which such respective amounts are set forth in the said report as modified by supplemental letter or report of April 27th, 1932, signed by said Appraisers, on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, increasing the $600.00 land valuation as indicated in said original report for Parcel F, which said value shall be increased from the sum of $600.00 to the sum of $800.00 in view of said Supplemental Report." Said resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None, Absent: Councilman Krimmele Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that when copies of escrow instructions in form approved by this Council and the City Attorney of the City of E1 Segundo, and forms of deeds or easements prepared and approved by the City Attorney of said City, covering real property to be acquired by the City of E1 Segundo, in connection with the Sepulveda Boulevard project, are delivered to the City Clerk of said City, that said City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to proceed to deliver the same to the respective property owners or other persons interested therein and to cause the said documents to be placed in escrow with Security Title Insurance and Guarantee Company of the City of Lds Angeles.. Carried by the following' vote: . Ayes:* Councilmen Gerow, -Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Krimmel. In connection with the offer of R. H. Moulton & Company, dated May 19th, 1932 and heretofore filed with this Council, to sell to the City of E1 Segundo certain Water Yorks Bonds, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that consideration of the matter be terminated and the City Clerk instructed to notify said Company that the City does not desire to purchase said bonds. McMillan, Fire Engine Drivers of the City of E1 Segundo, between the dates June 20th, 1932 and July 18th, 1932, Harold Burns be employed as Relief Fire Engine Driver and Janitor, and that his compensation therefor shall be at the rate of $140.00 per month.
