1932 JUL 20 CC MINEl Segundo, California. July 20th, 1932. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by'Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: None. READING OF IJINUTES OF PREVIOUS ILMTING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 13th day of July, 1932, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 18th day of July, 1932, were read without error or omission being noted, and viere approved as read upon motion of Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, which carried. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: LOS ANGE_ISS COUNTY LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES, dated July 11th, 1932, with which was enclosed copy of communication addressed to the Los Angeles County Board of ->upervisors regarding Municipal- County Health Service contracts, and enclosing also copies of resolution dealing with the same subject, which it was asked that this Council adopt. The communication was ordered placed in the Unfinished Business file for future attention. ROLAND A. VAJTDEGRIFT, Director of Finance of the State of California, dated July 13th, 1932, commenting upon a resolution adopted by the City Council June 29th, 1932, requesting that the matter be reconsidered and further action taken. The communication was ordered placed in the Unfinished Business file for future attention. THE CALIFORNIA STATE ASSOCIATION OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS, dated July 14th, 1932, referring to specifications upon which municipal audit should be based. Ordered filed. ORAL COMfWICATIO:w. Mr. J. W. Rhodes requested a permit to repair his building situate No. 409 Main Street within the City of L1 Segundo. Mr. Rhodes was directed to make application for this permit with the Building Department. Messrs..Walter Eyde, John Henderson and Paul Malmsten each addressed' the Council requesting employment by the City of'E1 Segundo, and each was advised by the Mayor that the Council would consider their requests and instruct the Street Superintendent concerning the matter and for each of them to get in touch with the Superintendent of Streets on Thursday, July 21st, 1932. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. None. 16b REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES. The City Clerk reported having received a communication dated June 29th, 1932, from Dr. J. L. Pomeroy, County Health Officer, advising that the County Counsel will not approve in its form as submitted, the contract heretoforq by this Council authorized to be entered into between the City of E1 Segundo and the County of Los Angeles for the performance of the functions of Health Officer within the City of El Segundo by the County Health Officer of said Los Angeles Uounty; that a new form of contract had been submitted and was ready for the Council's consideration. . The Council thereupon considered the said new form and Dr. H. C. Smiley, District Health Officer, who was present at this meeting, answered questions concerning the same and explained how certain provisions of the proposed contract would be interpreted by the Health Department. At the conclusion of the discussion, the matter was referred to the City Attorney, with the request that he confer with the County Counsel in an attempt to have the new form emended so that the same will conform to the requirements of both the City of E1 Segundo and the County of Los Angeles, None. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. NEW BUSINESS. Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the purchase of two tires for the City of E1 Segundo Dodge Souring Car be and the same is hereby authorized at a cost of not to exceed $32.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it wus moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
