A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. P.e on the above
date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by .
Georgb Love, Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Binder, Gerow, Selby and Mayor Love. -
Councilmen Absent: Krimmel.
READING OF MINUTES OF PRE'IIOUS =TIN,--,.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 20th day of
January, 1932, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it
was moved by Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that
the minutes be approved as read. Carried.
WRITMI COb=ICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as
indicated:
M. Y. LEWIS, dated January 27th, 1932, requesting permit to
operate a billiard parlor at No. 102 Richmond Street, E1 Segundo,
the applicant having purchased the business formerly operated by
D. M. McDavid at said location. Following consideration of said
application, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman
Gerow, that the following resolution be adopted:
FJHHH.'RF.AS, M. M. Lewis, by written application filed
with this Council this date, has requested that a permit
be granted him to conduct a billiard parlor in the
building situated at the Northeast corner of Richmond
Street and E1 Segundo avenue, being No. 102 Richmond
Street, in the City of E1 Segundo;
NOW U=FORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said applicant be
and he is hereby granted permission to conduct a billiard
parlor in said City at said location, for the period of
one year from date hereof, subject however, to the right
of the City Council of said City to �:ooner revoke the
same, as provided in Ordinance No. 6 of said City and all
ordinances amendatory thereof or supplementary thereto;.and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall
immediately issue a written permit unto said applicant
therefor.

Apes: Councilmen Binder, Gerow, Selby and Layor Love.

EL SEGUI.?DO CH:►I= _i OF CO:::-T#CE, dated January 26th, 1932,
advising of a meeting of various groups and associations of the City
of E1 Segundo, Tuesday, February 2nd, 1932, in the Council Chamber
of the City Hall of said City, for the purpose of formulating plans
in which all may participate, for the beautification of the City of
Ll Segundo for the Tenth Olympiad, and urging as large a representation
as possible from the City Council. The Clerk was instructed to
advise that as many of the Council as possible will attend said
meeting.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SP CLAM COM:11"IZEES.
The Chief of Police announced the appointment of G. A. Iuurphy as
a Special Police Officer and re -,uested the Council's approval of
said appointment. Moved by Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman
Gerow, that the appointment by the Chief of Police of G. A. Murphy
as a Special Police Officer be and the same is hereby ratified and
approved. Carried.
The Chief of Police announced the revocation of the appointment
of Robert Haines as a Special Police Officer.
Councilman Krimmel appeared at the meetin at this time, the hour
being 7:04 o'clock P. M. and he immediately took his seat at the
Council table.
The Street Superintendent reported having given consideration to
the matter of planting flowers in the seven foot parkways on both
sides of Main Street, between Grand Avenue and Mariposa Avenue, which
said matter was referred to him at the last meeting of the Council
and he inquired whether or not the Council desired to have certain
existing banks lying within said seven foot strip removed. On motion
of Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Gerow, which carried
unanimously, action with respect to this matter was deferred for one
week.
The City Clerk then presented to the City Council a deed which
he had received from Standard Oil Company of California, conveying to
the City of El Segundo for public'street purposes certain portions
of the real property of said Company adjacent to Rosecrans Avenue
wIthln ±he City of E1 Segundo. By general consent the matter was
referred to the City Engineer for checking as to the correctness of
the descriptions therein contained, and to* report to the Council at
its next regular meeting.
