1932 JAN 20 CC MINK, 225 E1 Segundo, California. January 20th, 1932. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by George Love, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Binder, Gerow, Krimmel, Selby and Love. Councilmen Absent: None. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: �rY E. i�II'V, Chairman, iashington Bi- Centennial 'free Committee of E1 Segundo Post No. 38, American Legion, dated January 18th, 1932, requesting permission to plant one California Redwood tree in the Library Park at a certain location designated by Mr. Cornell, Landscape Architect. Following discussion, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that E1 Segundo Post No. 38, American Legion, be and it is hereby granted permission to plant one California ttedwood tree in the Library Park at that certain location therein designated by Mr. Cornell, who planned the Park lay -out, said tree to be dedicated to the memory'of George Washington, and such planting to be prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction of the Street Superintendent of the Uity of E1 Segundo. Carried. ORAL, COIIMICATIONS. Mr. J. F. McCullough, speaking on behalf of El Segundo Chamber of Uomnerce and it Zegundo woman's Club, addressed the •Council.,relative. to .pla4tin.7, flower -s along certain. of 'the highways. withit -the City of El-Segundo, preparatory to.the-holding of the Olympic- .Games in Los Angeles 'in, 1932, and referred also to a request for signs at certain entrances to the City of El Segundo, designating the name of the City. Following discussion and con- sideration, the matter was referred to the Street Superintendent for survey and report. REPORTS OF ,OFFICER: AND SPECIAL COI%X EES. The Chief of Police announced the revocation of the appointment of R. C. Donnally as a Special Police Officer. 226 K. c c� c� The Street Superintendent advised receipt of a letter from Dr. H. H. Davis, to the effect that BQr. H. L. Gum, who sustained an injury while employed by the County of Los Angeles at the San Gabriel Dam site, has recovered sufficiently to enable him to return to work and that iv-T. Gum is again on the city payroll. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. kr. Luce, representing City Attorney Woodworth, requested the Council to adopt a resolution authorizing the City Attorney to file with the Railroad Commission of the State of California, a suggested amendment to said Railroad Commission's proposed order respecting the construction and /or reconstruction of grade crossings in which any of the railroad companies and any of the political bodies of the said State are interested. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman iirimmel, that the City Attorney* be and he is hereby authorized and permitted to file with the Railroad Commission of the State of California, suggested amendments as prepared by him, to the proposed order of the Railroad Commission of the State of California, which said proposed order will have a further hearing before said Railroad Commission on the 2nd day of February, 1932, at its offices in the City of Los Angelesq Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Gerow, hrinm 1, Selby and Mayor Love. Noes: None. Absent: None. Discussion then was had respecting the improvement of Arizona Drive as heretofore authorized by the voters in "Act of 1927 Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the City ofEl Segundo ", whereupon it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the City Attorney of the City of El Segundo be and he is hereby authorized to prepare such proceedings as, in his opinion, are necessary for initiating action looking toward the improvement of Arizona Drive within "Act of 1927 Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the City of E1 Segundo." Carried by the follovd ng vote: Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Gerow, Krimmel, Selby and Mayor Love. Noes: None. Absent: None. NEW BUSINESS. The Mayor thereupon announced that Supervisor John Quinn, and his field Secretary, Hugh•Lawrence, had conferred with him this date respecting the County's contribution toward the improvement of a portion of rtosecrans Avenue within the City of E1 Segundo, and had expressed a willingness to -cause an amount sufficient to complete the improvement of said street to be appropriated by the Supervisors of Los Angeles County, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded•by Councilman Krimmel, that the Street Superintendent of the City of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and directed to address a letter to Supervisor John duinn of Los Angeles County, stating that the City of E1 Segundo has completed all of the work of grading Rosecrans Avenue within said• Gity and is now desirous of completing said work as heretofore discusd'ed and agreed upon.between• the City Council of said City-and Supervisor :�uinn•and asking the latter official to cause the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County to appropriate funds necessary for-the completion of said work. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Gerow, Krimme1, Selby and laWor Love. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Binder, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
