1932 APR 27 CC MIN272 E1 Segundo, California. April 27th, 1932. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: None. Ri!40I dG OF MIN17MS OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 20th day of April, 19323, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. MRIT -LII� COPZX- NICATIQNS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: A. H. HARDCASTLE, dated April 25th, 1932, requesting that a ditch in arena Street, betTeen Franklin Avenue and Grand Avenue be repaired and that weeds be removed from said street. By general consent the matter was referred to the Street Superintendent for attention. PETE GARTLAND, Manager, E1 Segundo Baseball Club, inviting the Iiayor and members of the City Council to attend the opening game of the Centinella Baseball Club at the High School grounds in E1 Segundo, on May 1st, 1932 at 2 :30 P. M. Ordered filed. ORAL COIvUMNICATIONS. Mrs. Hobert Clark, on behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary, read a report of the accomplishments of the Mothers' Educational Center, sponsored by the organization she represents, and requested the Council to consider an appropriation of $10.00 per month in addition to its present contribution, for the support and maintenance of this work. The .1L%yor, on behalf of the Council, thanked Mrs. Clark for the report, and thereafter it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Love and unanimously carried, that the matter of additional financial aid to the Mothers' Educational Center be taken under advisement until the next regular meeting of the Council. S LCIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS. The hour of 7:15 o'clook P. M. at this meeting, having heretofore been fixed as the time for receiving-. bids for the purchase of garbage collected within the City of E1 Segundo, the ::fayor arose and announced the hour of 7:14 o'clock P. L:. and asked if there were any person or persons present who desired to file bids for the purchase of said garbage from the Ciwy of El Segundo. The hour of 7;15 o'clock P. M, ,having arrived, and all bids being in, the Ylayor declared the time for receiving bids for the purchase of garbage from the City- of E1 Segundo, as advertised for, closed. the City Clerk announced that two bids had been received by him. It was thereupon moved by 1ouncilman Selby, seconded b; Councilman Gerow, that the Council proceed to open, examine and publicly* declare all of the bids received for the purchase of :-arbaoe from the Uity of Ll Segundo, California. K 273 The Council thereupon proceeded to open, examine and publicly declare all of the bids received for the purchase of garbage collected within the City of E1 Segundo from said City, which said bids were found by said Council to be as follows, to -wit: Bid of W. D. Lee, as follows, to -wit: "April 27 - 32. Will haul all garbage from hopper, as required by amity of E1 Segundo for the sum of 28 cents per cubic yard. W. D. Lee, R 1, Box 513, iedondo Beach, Cal." Bid of Geo. Kitahata, as follows, to -wit: "April 26, 1932. Artesia, Calif. Dear Gentlemen: In regard to bid on the garbage of El Segundo, April 27, 19321 1 wish to submit the following• bid - lst year - ivive cts. .05r cubic yard. 2nd year - Ten cts. .10� " " 3rd year - Ten cts. .10¢ cubic yard. 1 am entering this bid after reading the specification of the contract advertised. Sincerely, Geo. Kitahata, R 1, Box 141 -A, Artesia, Cal." Moved-by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that all bids received for the purchase of garbage from the amity of El Segundo, California, be taken under advisement for the period of one week. Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Erimmel, that the Uity Engineer be and he is hereby instructed to investigate the practicability of discontinuing the use of one -half of the ornamental lights on ii in Street and report his findings to the Council at ::is convenience.
