'the minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 18th day
of April, 1932, were read, without error or omission being noted, and
were approved as read upon motion of uouncilman Selby, seconded by
councilman ltrimmel, which carried.

Ilse following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
ERNEST L. MOYER, ADJUTAiiT, H1 Segundo Post No. 38, American
Legion, dated April 19th, 1932, requesting permission to use Library
Park on the morning of iv,ay 30th, 1932, for the purpose of holding a
commemoration ceremony, to which the-public would be invited. Un
motion of Uouncilman Selby, seconded by Uouncilman Uerow, which carried
unanimously, this permission was granted.
A. WLtKLIS'LE & CO., dated April 9th, 1932, advising that the
handbook for municipal Officials, issued under the auspices of the
League of Ualifornia ii- unicipalities, was now being printed and that
the cost thereof would be 45.00 per copy, or if six or more copies are
ordered at one time, 44.00 per copy. woved.by Uouncilman U•erow,
seconded by Uouncilman Love, that the purchase of three handbooks for
municipal officials, from A. Uarlisle & Company,- be•and the same is
hereby authorized, at a cost of not to exceed 415.00. Uarried by the
following vote:

application has been made by the City of Los iLngeles for Liar Department
permission to construct a wooden pier over the - existing outfall sewer at
Hyperion Beach, Southerly of Collingwood Streetq E1 Segundo, California,
the pier to be 20 feet wide, and to extend into -the Pacific Ocean a
distance of approximately 940 feet from mean high -tide line; advising
also that paps showing the location of the proposed work will be on
ex)iibition at the United States Engineer's Office, _751 South Figueroa

TAIES H. MITCHELL, President, League of California Municipalities,
advising that the letter of the City of El Segundo addressed to him,
requesting that he file charges against the deposed Secretary - Manager
of the League of California Municipalities so that a hearing thereon
might be had at the fall Convention of said League, would be referred
to the Board of Directors at its meeting which will be held in San
Francisco about May 28th, 1932. Ordered filed.

UNK TI ISHED BUSINESS.
The Council a.-ain considered the matter of an escrow respecting
certain real property to be acquired by the City of E1 Segundo in connection
with the opening, widening and improving of Arizona Drive within the City
of E1 Segundo, and by general consent the City Clerk and the City Attorney
were instructed to prepare escrow instructions for the approval of the
Council.
UNFINISHED BUS LQESS.
The Street Superintendent advised the Council of the need of tires
and tubes on certain of the motor vehicle equipment of the City of E1
Segundo, following which it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by
Councilman Krimmel, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby
authorized to purchase one 30 x 5 tire and tube, and four 30 x 3j tires and
tubes, at a totr:l cost of not to exceed $40.00. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Loved by Councilman Krim e1, seconded by Councilman Love, that the
following resolutign be adopted:
RESOLVED, that the employees of the City of E1 Segundo, whose
names are set forth in the schedule hereinafter referred to, be and
they are hereby granted their customary annual two weeks vacation for
the Year 1932, effective between the dates set out opposite their
respective names in said schedule, all as follows, to -wit:

Provided, however, that should the head of the
Department in which any of the above named persons are
employed, or this Council, deem that it would be to the
best interest of the City to cause any of said employees
to take said vacation between dates other than those
hereinbefore set forth, then and in that event such
Department head, or this Council, may deviate as necessity
requires,.from the schedule hereinbefore referred to;
it. being understood, however, that the compensation to
be allowed any of said employees during said vacation
period, shall not exceed the equivalent of ten days pay
at their respective scheduled rates; and
3E IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in all instances where
practicable, K. E. Campbell perform the duties of relief
officer or employee, and that his compensation while so
engaged in such relief work be and the same is hereby
fixed at the same rate as that received by the officer
or employee for whom he is substituting.
The above resolution was adopted b -y the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen None.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting,
it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman. Love, that
the meeting adjourn. Carried.
