November 25th, 1931.
A regular meeting.of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. U. on the above
date, in the Council Chamber of the city Hall of said City, by the
city Clerk, the mayor being absent.
Councilman Peter E. Binder was unanimously chosen Mayor pro -tem,
and he immediately assumed the duties of the mayor.
BOLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimoel and Binder.
Councilman Absent: Love and Selby.
READING OF MINUTES OF PRIMOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 18th day of
November, 1931, were read without error or omission being noted,
and were approved as read upon motion of councilman Krimmel,
seconded by Uouncilman Gerow, which carried.
WRITTEN COMbMICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as
indicated:
COUNTY LIBRARIAN, dated iovember 24th, 1931, advising that
if the city of El Segundo desires to return to the county Library
system, the door is open. By general consent action on the
communication was deferred for a future meeting.
None.
tfPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
The City Clerk recomm ended changes in certain of the lighting
fixtures in his office, and following his explanation of the reasons
therefor and the benefits to be derived therefrom, it was moved by
Vouncilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimael, that the city
Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to cause the
lighting fixtures in his office to be substituted 17y others of a
different and preferable type as per his recommendation, at a cost
of not to exceed $14.00. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krinmel and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen Love and Selby.
Margaret Howard made application through the city Clerk for
permission to use the Uity ball Auditorium on leriday nights of each
week, -tor the purpose of conducting a dancing school,.stating that
any 'other' desirable hall tag not e'vailable for hbf purpose on each
rriday night and that this night :is preferable to the parents of
her students and to her students who are school children, in that
it does not interfere with their school work, there being no school
on Saturdays. Following discussion and consideration of the
application, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman
Kriammel, that until the further order of this Council, Margaret Howard
be and she is hereby granted permission to use the city ball
Auditorium on Friday nights of each week for the purpose of conducting
a private dancing school, it being understood, however, that such
use is subject to the right of the public to use the said auditorium
for public purposes; subject also to the prepayment of the monthly

rental at the rate of $15.00 per month, and further subject to the
right of the council to revoke this permit at any time at its
discretion, upon refund to the tenant on a pro rata basis of any
unearned portion of the prepaid rent. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Kriamel and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen Love and Selby.
The Fire Chief recommended the purchase of a piece of equipment
for the Fire Department of E1 Segundo, which makes garden lose quickly
available and efficient in fighting small inside fires, explaining
that such equipment is standard in the.fire departments of many
neighboring cities. Thereafter it was moved by councilman Krinmaeis
seconded by Councilman Uerow, that the purchase of one Mast -H Adapter
Control Nosmle and Assembly for use of the Fire Department of the City
of E1 Segundo be and the same is hereby authorized purchased at a total
cost of not to exceed $15.00. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen Love and Selby.
Matters in connection with the proposed improvement of Sepulveda
Boulevard between imperial Highway and Rosecrans Avenue, with particular
respect to the values of lands to be acquired in the widening and extending
of said street, were then discussed, subsequent to which it was moved by
Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the City Clerk be
and he is hereby authorized to notify such owners of real property within
the "Act of 1927 Municipal improvement District No. 1 of the City of El
Segundo ", as he may reasonably contact, to be present at a conference to
be held at the City Hall, on Wednesday, December 2nd, 1931, at the hour
of 8:00 o'clock P. M., for the purpose of further considering the said
matters. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Brim mel and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen Love and Selby.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting,
it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilmen Krimmel, that
the meeting adjourn. Carried.
