2FRANK L. SH&W, Chairman Committee on Employment, Los Angeles
County, dated April 30th, 1931, advising that the attention of his
office has been directed to the fact that some municipalities are
.effecting reduction in wage or salary schedule, that his office
takes the position that this medium is not the proper course to
pursue, that the thought expressed is the opinion of outstanding
economists of the nation, as well as President Hoover himself,
and recommending that the five day week, where practicable, be
employed to effect stabilization. Ordered filed.
ORAL CONJUNICATIONS.
Messrs. H. H. Graham and A. B. Herwick requested permission
to fell certain trees on Imperial Highway, the removal of which
will be necessary when the improvement of said Highway gets under
way, and were informed by the Mayor that as yet the requisite
legal proceedings have not been initiated for the improvement of
said Highway and that when the problem of removing said trees
presents itself to the Council, their application will be given
consideration.

of 45•flp.'ts of Korean grass.,'be,and the same is hereby rescinded,
and the Street Superintendent of the Ctty of El Segundo is hereby
authorized and directed to purchase 181 of Bent Grass seed, to be
sown in the plot surrounding the Christmas Tree in the Library Park
of the City of E1 Segundo, the total cost of such Bent Grass seed
not to exceed the sum of $36.00.
