A regular meeting of the City Council of the Cite oft Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. 11.1. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by George Love, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Kri =el and Love. Councilmen Absent: Binder and Selby. MADLNG OF 1MMTES OF PREVIOUS LZETDMS. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 12th day of August, 1931, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 13th day of august, 1931, were read without error or omission appearing, and it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. ' TXL'9ER, Sheriff, County of Los Angeles, dated -u.ust 17th, 1931, advising with respect to resolution of the City Council of the Oity of E1 Segundo, adopted July 29th, 1931, of record at Page 5 -128 minutes of the proceedin.Js of this Council, to the effect that the radio address referred to in said resolution was delivered by Mir. F. W. Emerson, who is connected with the rehabilitation office of the Sheriff's department, the object of which address was to secure employment for deserving prisoners who have been released from jail, and that on Monday, August 24th, at 2:00 P. ;::., over Station KFWB more will be said about this matter. Councilman Krimmel reported that the Street Department had removed a tree from the parking on the East side of Whiting Street, between Holly and Pine Avenues, the specific location beinL- between the properties of George Neal and Carl Mead on said street, and that the property owners had reouested that a small tree be planted in lieu of the one removed. 3y general consent this was authorized and the Clerk directed to call the matter to the attention of the Street Superintendent. The City Treasurer reported that the 'installment of principal and interest due July 2nd, 1931, o.n Rond No. 20, .Series A, issued to represent assessment levied against Lot-11 (except a portion thereof as -described in said Bond).in Block 95,'for'tne opening of Cypress and other streets, within the Oity of ZE1 Segundo, under Resolution of Intention No. 154, had not been paid and is now delinuent. After consideration, it was moved by Councilman Gerovr, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the :dm following resolution be adopted: Try ?.:11s, the City of El Segundo, California, did on the 25th day of November, 1927, acquire by purchase that certain street improvement bond designated as Bond No. 20, Series A, for the opening of Cypress and Other Streets, under Resolution of Intention No. 154, of the City of El Segundo, California, and is now the owner of said bond; and 0 c� y IV 1457 •HERE.',S, this Council, after consideration, deems that the whole amount of the unpaid remainder of said bond, with accrued interest, should be declared due and payable immediately, and that the Treasurer should proceed to advertise and sell the real property descrioed in said bond as security for the payment of the said principal and interest; NOV,' THEREFORE, EE IT RESOLVED, that the -jity of El Segundo, California, does hereby de*nand and that on its behalf the City Clerk demand in writing, said writing to be delivered to the City Treasurer of said City, that the-said Treasurer proceed to advertise and sell said lot or parcel of land unless the unpaid remainder of the principal sum of said bond, together with accrued interest, as expressed in said bond, is paid before such sale, and that in the event such payment be made prior to such sale, together with any cost which may have accrued thereon, as provided by law, that then and in that event the said Treasurer shall cause said bond to be cancelled as contemplated in the Act of the Legislature of the State of California kinder which said bond was issued. Smid resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimnel and Love. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Binder and Selby. The City Clerk reported having had a conference with Mr. R. E. Mattison, who represents the interests owning portions of Sections 1 and 2 of Township 3 South, Range 15 'nest, which property is located on the North side of Imperial Highway, between Plain Street and Arizona Drive, and that Lir. Mattison desires to dedicate an additional 20 foot strip off of the South line of said property to the City of Los Angeles for public street purposes, but hesitates to do so until he is sure that the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo will take steps to corres- pondingly increase the width of Imperial Highway within the limits of the City of E1 Segundo, or at least establish a 20 foot set -back line on the South side of Imperial Highway, in contemplation of future widening, should necessity require. Following discussion of the matter, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the City Engineer of the city of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and directed to prepare and furnish the City httorney of the City of F1 Segundo-with all of the engineering data necessary for the purpose of taking proceedings to establish a 20 foot set back line on the South side of Imperial Highway Fast of :.:ain Street, within the City of E1 Segundo, California. Carried by the followinc vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Lrimmel and Love. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Binder and Selby. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimimel, that the following resolution be adopted: this Council is just advised of the death of Adolph Leusinger, long a resident of the Centinella Valley, of which the City of :l Segundo is a part; and ER::hS, said Adol�,h Leusinger, a citizen of the hi-hest order, a devoted husband, a courageous and loving father, a good and true man, was at once admired, not alone for his irreproachable private life but also for a long and valuable service in public affairs, particularly as the sane related to the Dublic schools of the Centinella lailey; and this Council and the individual members thereof have ::no;rn and esteemed said deceased for many yea2s, and -eliev- that his demise constitutes .,- .•dis; inet .loss to the entire community in which he lived and made•his.home; X10 +r RF,FO , IT RESOLV D, that the sincere sympathy of the City Council of said City be and the seine is hereby extended to the widow and family of the deceased and that in testimony of the respect which this �;ouncil and the citizens of the City of El Segundo bore for said deceased, that this resolution_ be recorded at length in the minutes of this meeting, thereby chronicling the srlendid worth of said Adolph Leusinger, and that the City Clerk forward a copy hereof to the family of the said deceased.
