A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of I]1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above
date in the Council Chamber of the Uity Hall of said City, by
George Love, Layor.

Councilmen Present: Binder, ;;erow, Krimmel, Selby and Love.
Councilmen Absent: None.
READING OF YINVI"'S OF P_ =OUS LZETINaS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 5th day of
August, 1931, were read as corrected, and it was moved by Councilman
Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes, as corrected,
be approved as read. Carried.
The minutes of the special meeting held on the 11th day of
August, 1931, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it
was moved by Councilman ( Gerow, seconded by Councilman Binder, that
the minutes be approved as read. Carried.

The following communications were read and disposed of as
indicated:
H. C. SI, E"Y, District Health Officer, dated August 7th, 1931,
being a report of the activities of the Los Angeles County Health
Department during the month of June, 1931, as riealth Officer,
within the City of E1 Segundo. Ordered filed.
LEA7,UE OF CALIFORNIA ITU.NICIPALITIES, dated August 7th, 1931,
calling attention to the publication of a revised Municipal Hand
Book and quoting prices thereon. Moved by Councilman Selby,
seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the purchase of three copies of
the Fourth Edition of the Municipal Band Book of the League of
California m=icipalities at a cost not to exceed 412.00 be and
the same is hereby authorized. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Gerow, Krimriel, Selby and Love.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.

The City Clerk informed the Council that frequently it becomes
necessary to hurriedly contact a police officer when the object of
such contact makes it impractical to use the police call on the fire
whistle,.aAd.that to avoid the,necessity,of calling various business .
people bin the teleihone for the purpose of asking -'them to request
a police officer to call•the City Hall in event an officer were
observed in the vicinity, it had been suggested by a municipal employee
that a signal be placed at an advantageous point on Grand Avenue.
Following brief discussion, it was moved by Councilman Binder,
seconded by Councilman '.crow, that the matter be referred to the
Public Safety Committee. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Gerow, Krimmel, Selby and Love.
Noes: None.

'i'he City Attorney reported his inability to secure action of the
City Council of the City of Los Angeles respecting the proposed
improvement of Imperial riihway, by reason of the fact that said
City council held a short session only on this date, and he had no
opportunity to present the matter; that on Thursday, August 13th,
he v:ould appear at the Council Chamber of the City Council of the
City of Los Angcles at an early hour and anticipated action in the
matter at that time.
he reported also having had assurance from the Board of Supervisors
of Los Angeles County of the allocation of satisfactory stmis from
the County 'Treasury toward the construction of Imperial Highway
and Sepulveda joulevard.
