1931 APR 08 CC MIN68/x, c� y S1 Segundo, California*- April 8th, 1931. A regular meeting of the City - Council of the City of S1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by George Love, Mayor. ROLL CALL, Councilmen Present: Binder, Brinmel, Selby and Love. Councilmen Absent: Gerow. SEARING OF MINUTES OF NYIOUS 1 111 0 The minutes of the regular meeting held on the lot day of April, 1931, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved .by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Binder, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COIDUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: CITY CL , CITY OF LOS ANGELES, dated .April let, 1931, advising that the City Council of the City of Los Angeles had adopted its resolution giving its consent to the institution of proceedings by the City of E1 Segundo for the acquisition of certain land and for the improvement of Imperial Highway from Inglewood - Redondo Road to Main Street, El Segundo, a certified copy of the resolution therein referred to being attached to the said communication. On motion of Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Gerow, which carried unanimously, the said communication was ordered filed for future reference. Councilman Gerow appeared during the reading of the foregoing communication, the hour being 7:15 o'clock P. M. and he immediately took his seat at the council table. ITAGU$ OF CALIFORNIA MJNICIPALITIES, dated April Gth, 19319 being its Bulletin No. 14, requesting the Mayor to issue a proclamation respecting "California Public Schools Neer', which begins April 20th, 1931. LODGE NO. 507, F. & A. M., dated March 25th, 19319 inviting the Council to make the 12th Annual observance.of Public Schools Reek a success. Following the reading of the two communications next above referred to, the Mayor issued the following proclamation: "All citizens are respectfully requested to assist in the proper observance of the Twelfth Annual Celebration of bALIFORNIA FU 1I SCHOOLS 30M whioh will be held through- out•the.state during the week beginning Apri1-20th,•1931. In view of the fact that our public school system- has been largely responsible for the position of leadership which our country now occupies in all matters of. human endeavor it is fitting and proper that we take this opportunity of showing our appreciation of what our public schools have done for us. In order that they may continue to be a great influential factor in moulding the minds and hearts of future citizens we bespeak hearty co- operation with those who have our schools in charge. None. None. Let all our people join in the celebration of CALIFORNIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS MW by visiting the schools, attending meetings and showing in every way their appreciation of the importance of public education. Mayor - City of E1 Segundo, Cal." ORAL COMM13NICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES. The Chief of Police announced the appointment of Joseph Holland as a Special Police Officer and requested the Council's approval of the appointment. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the appointment by the Chief of Police of Joseph Holland as a Special Police Officer, be and the same is hereby confirmed and approved. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Hinder, Gerow, Krimmel, Selby and Love. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Attorney, reporting upon his study of Assembly Bill No. 220, which is an act relating to the sealing of weights, measurs, meters, etc., and which was heretofore referred to him by the City Council, stated that the said proposed legislation is supplementary to existing laws respecting the sealing of weights and measures and in his opinion is unnecessary. Thereupon, by general consent, the City Attorney's report was accepted and no further action was taken respecting the matter. PAYING BILLS.
