A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7200 o•clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by George. Love,
Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Krimmel, Selby and Love.
Councilmen Absents Binder and Gerow.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 9th day of May, 1950s,
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman
Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be approved as
read. Carried.
WRITTEN CCKKUNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
GEORGE PARRISH, M. D., Health Officer of the City of Los Angeles,
dated May 10th, 1930, respecting the activities of a group known as
Dairy Inspection Committee. Ordered filed.
NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL FIRE ASSOCIATION, Seattle, Washington, respecting
the method said Association has adopted to warn the public of the dangers
of and the resultant loss through forest fires, and offering to furnish such
quantities of advertising matter consisting of tire covers and posters as
the Council might be able to use. By general consent the Clerk was
instructed to order twenty -four tire covers and posters.
ORAL COEIlWUNICATIONS.
Dr. Co A. Wherry addressed the Council relative to decorating the
City on June 7th, the proposed day for the official dedication of the Los
JAgeles Municipal Airport, and the: Council, by general consent, agreed to
erect its flag decorations on said date.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
None.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS k SPECIAL COMITTEES.
City;Bngineer Hutchins reported having attended a recent meeting of the
City Planners Association of Los Angeles County, which was held at Hawthorne,
and that the street naming committee of said Association had recommended that
that certain street known as El Segue& Avenue within the City of E1 Segundo,
and as Ballona Avenue and various other names throughout its length outside
of the City of El Segundo, be changed to El Segundo Avenue throughout its
entire length.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Moved by Councilmen Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the
firm of Cook, Hall and Cornell be employed as Landscape Architects to prepare
and fbmish the City of EI Segundo plans for the langscaping of the property
comprising Block 85 of the City of El Segundo, which is owned by the City of
El Segundo, and that the fees and expenses to be charged the City in commotion
therewith be limited to t,, sum not to exceed $400.00. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Krimmel, Selby and Love.
Noes: None.
Absents Councilmen Binder and Gerow.

8 :03 o'clock P. M., and he immediately took his seat.

A,RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
6ALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO NOTIFY THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, THAT THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO THEREIN NO LONGER DESIRES TO BE A PART
OF THE COUNTY FREE LIBRARY SYSTEM OF SAID COUNTY; THAT IT
DESIRES TO SO WITHDRAW AS OF NNE 30TH, 1930, AT MIDNIGHT;
GIVING THE DATE AND PLACE OF THE MEETING OF SAID COUNCIL AT
WHICH IT PROPOSES TO TAKE SUCH CONTEMPLATED ACTION; AND

beginning May I7th and until the fkxrther order of this Council, J. F.
McCullough be and he is hereby employed to make additional'investigation
and recommendations concerning A:municipally owned and conducted
library fbr the City of E1 Segundo, and that his compensation in fall
for all services rendered the City of El Segundo in connection therewith
be and the same is hereby fixed at $200.00 per month. Carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Krlmmel, Selby and Love.

The Mayor thereapon announced the appointment of Robert Thorburn, Mrs.
Manya S. Davidson, firs. Emily H. Nelson, William A. Krimmel, Jr. and George
Love, as a Committee to confer with J. F. McCullough and to make recommendations
concerning a certain proposed municipal library in and for the City of
El Segundo.

Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the demands
be allowed and warrants drawn on and paid out of the respective funds covering the
same. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Krimmel, Selby and Love.

NEW BUSINESS.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the
E1 Segundo Community Church be tendered the thanks of the City of El Segundo
for the loan of tables, dishes and silverware to be used during the entertain -
ment of the members of the City Clerks, Auditors, Treasurers and Assessors
Association, which will meet in the City Hall of the City of E1 Segundo on
May 17th, 1930. Carried.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the
following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that a starting box, with float control switch,
be installed at the booster pump plaint of the Municipal Water
Department in place of manually operated control switch now
in use at said booster pumps, the total cost of such change
not to exceed $150.00.

Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Krimmel, Selby and Love.

Moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the
City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to advertise for bids

purchase of the requisite amount of lumber at a total cost of not to exceed
$100.00, and the employment of the nocessary labor, at a total cost of not to
exceed $150.00, for the purpose of constructing a pump house around Fresh Water
Well No. 3 of the City of E1 Segundo, be and the same is hereby authorized.

No further business appearing to be transacted at this session, it was
moved by Councilman Belby, seconded by Councilman Binder, that the meeting adjourn
until Thursday, the 22nd day of May, 1930, at the hour of 4t00 P. M. Carried.
