A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by the Y ayor,
George Love.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Krimmel, Selby and Love.
Councilmen Absent: Binder and Gerow.
READING OF ATINUTES OF PREVIOUS I'fEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting; held on the 17th day of January,
1930, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.
WRITTEN C 0IVTI TTI CATI ONS .
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
GOVERNOR C. C. YOUNG, being an announcement of a meeting of the
Governor's Council, to be held in the Assembly Room of the City Hall of
the City of Los Angeles, Tues&sy and Wednesday, January 28th and 29th,
1930, which said meeting will be open to the public. Ordered filed.
PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAILWAY COT.1P.NY, dated January 22nd, 1930, advising
that there are no objections to the cancellation of Lease No. 3036,
between the City of E1 Segundo and Pacific Electric Railway Company, dated
January 10th, 1918, as ordered cancelled by the Council at its regular
meeting held January 17th; also gran tiny; permission for the removal of
the building and equipment now located on the leased property. Ordered
filed.
ROBERT L. RAINEY, dated January 22nd, 1930, requesting the removal
of an acacia tree from in front of the residence located No. 506 Concord
Street, El Segundo. Yoved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman
Krimmel, that the matter be referred to the Public Works Committee, with
authority to investigate and to proceed in accordance with its discretion.
Carried.
DAILY BREEZE PUBLISHING COITT NY, dated January 17th, 1930, thanking
the Council for its cooperation in the publication of the first annual
South Bay Industrial edition of said newspaper. Ordered filed.
K RRY Y. ?`l ALTERS, 703 Yarket Street, San Francisco, dated January
18th, 1930, soliciting employment on a commission basis to attempt to
collect from the State of California, refunds of gasoline taxes paid by
this and other cities to the State of California. The Council, believing
that the amount involved being. too trivial to warrant the effort and
difficulties which will be entailed, and believing also that it is more
practical to pe mit the amount to remain in the State Highway Fund, where
all of it will be used on state highways, rather than to permit a portion
of it to be diverted for private gain, no action was taken respecting; the
said letter.
PIONEER RUBBER MILLS, dated January 23rd, 1930, announcing the
appointment of Ir. R. E. Grace as representative of its municipal fire
hose department, in charge of "ire hose sales in the State of California
South of Bakersfield, and in the State of Arizona. Ordered filed.

E1 See -undo. Yoved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby,

NEW BUSINESS.
?roved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Binder, that the
following resolution be adopted:
T'JIIEREAS, at a prior meeting of this Council, the laying, of
linoleum on the floor of the Council Chamber of the City of
E1 Segundo was authorized; and
'AMREAS, subsequent thereto and at a time when it was im-
practical to take official action respectirW the same, it was
felt that a similar floor covering should be laid upon the
floor of that room used by the Police Department of the City
of E1 Segundo and the same was thereupon informally authorized
and the City Clerk instructed to order the said floor covering
to be laid upon the floor of the said Police Department office;
NURT THFREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the action of the City
Clerk in causing 6 m.m. brown battleship linoleum to be laid
upon the floor of the office of the Police Department of the
City of El Segundo at a cost of X39.90, be and the same is
hereby ratified and approved.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Krimmel, Selby and Love.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Gerow.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it
was moved by Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the
meeting adjourn. Carried.
