1930 FEB 28 CC MINEl Segundo, California. February 28th, 1930. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7t00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by George Love, Mayo r. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Presents Krimmel, Love and Selby. Councilmen Absent: Binder and Gerow. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 21st day of February, 1930, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS. The follordng communications were read and disposed of as indicated: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON CO., dated February 21st, 1930, rdgtesting permission to replace three poles in the alley West of Virginia Street, South of Pine Avenue. Said application having been approved by the Street Superintendent, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that Southern California Edison Company be and it is hereby granted permission to replace three poles in the alley West of Virginia Street, South of Pine Avenue, provided said work is prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction of the Street Superintendent of the City-of El Segundo. Carried. J. L. POMEROY, Los Angeles County Health Officer, dated February 10th, 1930, being a report of the activities of the Los Angeles County Health Department as Health Officer of the City of E1 Segundo within. said City during the month of December, 1929. Ordered filed. None. None* ORAL COMUtJ&ICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING CaMTTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COUVITTEES. J 4 39 The City Clerk announced that the E1 Segundo Volunteer Fire Department requested permission to use the City Hall Auditorium on the evening of March 17th, 1930, for the purpose of holding a dance, and upon motion of Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, which carried unanimously, this permission was granted, provided however, that in view of the fact that said organisation is one which serves the municipality without charge in emergencies requiring its service, that no charge be made for the use of said auditorium on said date. The City Clerk reported that the DeMolay Society requested permission to use the City Hall Auditorium on March 219t, 1930, for a meeting, and upon motion of Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, which carried unanimously, this permission was granted, the customary rental charge of $3.75 to be made therefor. The City Engineer announced that he had this date filed with the City Clerk, as required by law, his Certificate of Cost of the construction of the water line from the present water works site to the East acreage of the City. of E1 Segundo. �T X441 UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the leave of absence heretofore granted E. Morgan to absent himself from his usual employment for the period of two weeks with pay, owing to the serious illness of his mother, be and the same is hereby extended for one week, under the conditions set forth in the resolution originally granting the leave of absence. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Noes= None. Absent: Councilmen Krimmel, Selby and Love. Binder and Gerow. The City Engineer read to the Council specifications prepared by him respecting the drilling of Mater Ill No. 3, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that specifications for the drilling of a fresh water well, as prepared by the City Engineer and read to the Council this date, be and the same are hereby approved and adopted and are hereby designated as Specifications No. 2 for ftesh Water Well No. 3, City of El Segundo, California, a copy of which specifications is hereby ordered filed in the office of the City Clerk; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to advertise for bids as required by law, for the drilling of a water well based upon said specifications. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Krimmel, Selby and Love. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Binder and Gerow. The City Engineer thereupon read to the Council certain specifications prepared by him respecting the installation of a deep well pum]► for fresh water well No. 3, following which it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that specifications for the installation of deep well pump for fresh water well No. 3, prepared by the City Engineer and read to the Council this date, be and the same are hereby approved and adopted, and designated as Specifications No. 1 for Deep Well Pump for No. 3 Fresh Water Well in the City of E1 Segundo, one copy of which specifi- cations is hereby ordered filed with the City Clerk; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo is hereby authorized and directed to advertise, in the manner provided by law, for bids for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo one deep well pump and installing the same complete, all in the manner provided in said specifications hereinbefore meritiorad• Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Krimmel, Selby and Love. Moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that Resolution No. 224, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUND09 CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL WNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON MONDAY, THE 14TH DAY OF APRIL, 1930, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN MMCIPAL OFFICERS OF SAID CITY, which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Krimmel, Selby and Love. Noes: None. Absents Councilmen Binder and Gerow. Mr, J. F. McCullough, who had previously been employed to make an investigation and report concerning the Los Angeles County Free Library service furnished the City of El Segundo, was present and gave a brief verbal resume• of his investigation to date, which is to be followed by a complete written report at a later date. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
